LOTS of R-695s in this thread! Martin's should PAY us royalties for all the promotion we do here! LOL!

I like seeing all the different ways people accessorize their R-695. Grin

Pouched Rat

« Reply #31 on: May 14, 2003, 09:06:57 AM »

my martin's ruud w/ 7 girls:
I need an updated picture of this cage... now that I"m slowly replacing boxes with plastic boxes for easier cleaning, etc..  gah!! I'll do it tonight, probably.  and with my CAMERA instead of the crappy digital camera, as well!

a closer pic (with my actual camera.... which is why it looks nicer)

then the boys, there's only 4 in here now, and I have 2 in another cage. it's a "4-story" super pet ferret cage.

and the second cage.. used to house two hairless boys, now it houses Mel and Cracker (extremely skiddish rat... Powder didnt' work out, he SCREAMED!!! at least Cracker isn't fighting Mel right now...)

sadly.. both those rats in that picture died earlier this year.....

and this is how NOT to house a rat:

heh.. when they're out for playtime, I usually have a critter carrier that they'll run back to for food/litterbox.. but I'll also cart them all into the bedroom for playtime inside that thing.. open the lid and they all dart out as fast as possible (after being cramped in there for .5 seconds.. lol)

That's perfect! Use the cage calculator in the future-

No pictures but my room is filled to the brim with cages. It looks similar to the third rat cage pics.

I love looking at other people´s rat homes  Smiley  !

The cage of my four girls Shona, Google, Lütte & Töfte:

The three cages are connected - you can spot Google in the connecting box to get an idea of the dimensions Smiley .

bye, coati

Here's my cage:   CLICKY

That's when it was first set up... now it has 2-3 hammocks (I make them out of old towels, so the # of hammocks depends on how big the towel chunks are)... and a finch nest which a rat is almost always hiding in...and a sleep tube tied to one side of the cage....

It held 8 rats for a little while til I adopted Ben, who isn't mean, but he's bigger than my Alpha, Harley Quinn and there wasn't enough room. SOO currently it holds 6 rats (Quinn and Blaze are currently housed in a cage slightly smaller.)

I am getting ready to attatch this cage to the cage that Quinn and Blaze are in with a ferret tube- to make one big rat condo...and hopefully Quinn can deal with that. Little bully...  Tongue

We're also building a "Rat table" where we'll have ladders and boxes and all kinds of fun stuff. It leads to the rat couch (Pictured HERE with thier cardboard rat castle ) so they will never want to go in their cage again!  I'll post pics when that's all built!

And Coati--- even after my cages are connected and my rat table is done, I feel that my rats will STILL be jealous of your rats cage...  Shocked

You discovered the one drawback of the cage  Roll Eyes - I usually spend 3-4 hours on cleaning everything.
Thank god my girls use their toilets and I don´t have to do it too often ...

And thanks to this thread & you guys, I got more Ideas on what stuff to put in there!  Roll Eyes
