R.I.P. Sweet Hammy

My mom just found out about 2 boy ratties who supposedly attacked another rat...Now their owner doesn't like them so she's been neglecting them.  She's trying to find a home for them...I don't know if she's going to bother looking for a good home though.  I was thinking about fostering them...if I knew someone who would want them.  I don't think they can be put in with other rats, from what it sounds like, they may be vicious towards anyone but each other.  I don't think they've been well socialized since she's been neglecting them, but if I pick them up as fosters, I'll do my best to clean them up and give them some good food, and try to make them friendlier before they get adopted.  I wish I could keep them myself, although I haven't met them yet.. but I can't.  I REALLY want to rescue these guys, but I can only do it if someone is willing to take them.  They're probably about 8 months to a year old, I'm not sure about the details yet.  I don't have pictures but if there is anyone REMOTELY interested, please post...These boys sound like they need a good home!  I'm located in central Virginia, if anyone's interested.  thanks.

Bravo for you concern and caring!  Fostering rats in need is a great thing and it sounds like these boys really need someone like you.  I'm president of RAATS in the Carolinas and we do VA things as well.  We'd love to help you find homes for your boys (unless you end up deciding to keep them for yourself - warning, this does happen  Blue Dumbo Smile), or provide a foster home if you decided that you can't foster them after all.  Check out our website at http://www.carolinarats.org.  You might even want to consider joining if you're interested, you wouldn't be our first VA member.  If you'd like our help, feel free to email me at xedra77@carolinarats.org.  Good Luck, and thanks for caring!
