Rescue mice in NYC area
«

I might as well post this now.
I have 14 rescue mice for adoption, including 12 1-week old babies that'll be ready for adoption in a few weeks. I thought i'd put it out there early, because I suspect the mother is pregnant again.
There are some gorgeous colors in this group and they'll be handled daily and well socialized. Both parents seem fairly friendly, altho a little jumpy, but the mother even let me handle the babies right in front of her, and she would take food from my hand.
To see their pictures.
The father is also up for adoption, he is a gorgeous silver/white brindle (I think?). I'll have his picture soon.
There will be an adoption contract and a small adoption fee, and all potential adopters would be screened for approval. These are rescues and will be adopted out as PETS ONLY, so please no breeders. Thank you!

aw. poor things. My house is always open to more mice (im located in PA), though I am a breeder. If you cannot find other homes, I would certainly be willing to take them as pets (my little sis is squealing over the brindles ~_^).

It seems brindle babies would be easy to place, Kim's already taking at least 1 brindle baby and maybe even more, depending on the sex count. I didn't realize they were unusual or extra popular
To be honest I do feel a little uncomfortable placing them with mice breeders I don't know since I'm paranoid that they'll get bred behind my back
Even with a no breeding contract it's nearly impossible for me to find out if the person decides to breed them anyways you know? Sad but it has been known to happen...

ha ha i dont know selena, maybe ill breed them
you know, with all my female mice -- they can magically conceive, right
ill talk to my mom and see if she wants more -- she has her one lone smelly male right now, but might be interested in starting a female colony if necessary
but i dont know since she is getting her new rattie soon if she wants more animals in the house at the moment (needs to get used to her new ratlet and get intros out of the way with slate, her neutered boy)

LOL if there's one person I would feel completely comfortable even adopting out both genders together that would be you Kim
Just let me know what your mom says. Once I get home I plan on setting up more adequate housing for everyone (we're a bit crammed right now since I'm preparing to move) so I really shouldn't have problem with keeping them long term even if they don't get adopted soon. Of course I do worry about having to separate all the boys and maintaining 20 separate cages...

To be honest, ive never even HELD a brindle before, so the evil temptation tp breed would be very great ^.^;;

I got the sex count. There are 6 boys and 6 girls, and to be honest I'm a little disappointed cuz some of the ones I wanted to keep ended up being boys
So here it goes.
MALES
2 brindle
1 chocolate
2 lilac
1 dove or platinum
FEMALES
2 black
2 agouti
1 PEW
1 silver brindle?

I just lost one mouse and my single male needs a friend. He is still very young and is very lonely right now and I feel just terrible. I do not want to BUY a mouse from a store cause i don't believe in it, BUT I was told on the chat about this situation and I would LOVE to get one from you if there is ANY way to do it. I am in NC.
Let me know, Thanks

I was always told male mice hardly get along, even when they're littermates. Do you think it can work out? I'm just curious. These guys will be pretty young and stuff and it would be GREAT if they can get along with another boy.
I'll be in Long Island from now on. How far are you exactly from NYC area? I'd be willing to travel maybe 2 hrs or so, I have no idea how far you are from here.

I am sure some sort of crazy something is going to happen between now and then...however...
If we can get one or two people to bridge between NYC and DC - I was thinking, perhaps I could do a run between DC and somewhere in NC, such as Durham (hey there, fly_away!) or even as far as Greensboro. SniT, where in NC, are you located?
Maybe we can coordinate something offlist.
btw, Kim, our new boys are doing great, and the Four Marx Brothers (the black meeces, who live in the Martin's cage), really are enjoying their pvc tubing you sent to play with.
The PEW meeces - now talk about your kooky meeces. They are SLOWLY getting used to people. I was kind of surprised at how skittish these white ones were, considering that last year's lot had been handled a lot, and were so people friendly.
Anyhow, if you folks all want to do a meece caravan so SaniT can adopt some meeces just after July 4th, let me know! (I love American Brindles, too. I'll post my story about them in another thread!)

Ohhhh that would be really really great! I still need to look up where everything is (I think I need to buy a map?) so I can figure out how far *I* would be able to go from here. I could probably easily do about 1-2 hrs from Long Island and meet someone if needed. Thanks everyone for the offer to help! I still have ALL the males available

selena -- any word on neutering them? if they are, i will definitely take one. if not, let me see if my vet at home will neuter them for me
and use mapquest for mapping out things - its my best friend for transports! me going down to cape may takes me 3 hours south from me (2 hours from LI might just put you to me in northern NJ depending on where you are -- how far was it for you to get to me last summer?)
ummm.....yeah i think that sit

I'm gonna ask my vet when I call today about the rat that needs to be spayed. I'm still short on funds so I don't know how it would work out tho
I need a job.
I think it was supposed to take like 1 1/2 hours to get to your place, but it ended up taking like 3, so I'm not sure. But it can't be more than 2 hours I would think.
