Rat Lover!

« on: April 28, 2002, 01:31:44 AM »

I know I haven't been around in like forever, but I had to talk to someone I'm so sad.  Tonight while I was on the computer my fiance yells out to me that Kahlan is dead.  I'm like OH MY GOD and run into the room and she's lying on her side not moving.  I have no idea what happened she was fine when I was in there earlier.  I haven't been able to stop crying anytime I talk about her or think about her.  I feel so bad, and so depressed.  My poor little girl Sad  I don't know what to do now, Madison looks so sad and distressed looking all around for her sister.  I don't know if I should get her a little friend or just spend a lot more time with her then I do now.  What should I do?  I'm so upset right now I just can't think straight.  Blah what an awful week this has been.  Sorry that my first post back to the board was such a depressing one, but I know how great you all are and knew you would be supportive.

I'm so sorry.
You'll probably want to get your remaining sweetie a friend or two so she isn't alone and sad.
Plus it can help you recover too.
My condolences

Oh Meld, welcome back!  I'm so sorry to hear about sweet little baby Kahlan.   Cry

It hurts so much when it is sudden and unexpected like that.  Kahlan will never be very far from you. We can't ever be far from those we love and those who've loved us. Sometimes we must trust what we can't see.  She knows you were her wonderful friend and took such good care of her.  There isn't anything I can say to make you feel better but I know how it feels and I'm sorry.   *hugs!*

Wait for a few days when you'll feel more clear-minded and spend a lot of time with Madison. You'll probably be able to guage what to do and when later on. Madison might love to have a new friend.

Again.... I'm so sorry and I'm glad to see you back.

We've all been there.  Just went through it about a month ago.

Give Madison lots of extra attention and let her comfort you.

Oh thats horrible, im so sorry.  Cry Cry

Getting her a new friend might be a good idea, for both of you.

I had come up with a plan after I get my 2 girly rats... I was thinking that I would add in a 3rd girl after the first 2 where over 1 year old.... that way if one died, another companion would be there. And keep 3 ratties if at all possible together. That way if something tragic happens, they dont have to be alone.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

I'm so sorry, Honey! I went through almost exactly the same situation not long ago. I was in the bedroom on my computer and my husband came running in to tell me that my only girl, Milo, was dying. By the time I got to the cage in the livingroom, she was indeed gone. She'd had respiratory symptoms for a little while but was on Baytril, terbutalene, and had completed a tapered dose of prednisone! She'd really seemed to be doing much better. But Scott said that he'd witnessed her suddenly take about 3 gasping breaths and then just collapse.  Cry

I know how shocking and painful it is, and I'm so sorry for your loss! I'll be keeping good thoughts for you. Give yourself time. Grieving takes as long as it takes. In time, though, I promise you that the pain will ease, and it will be mostly replaced with only happy memories of your precious baby.

Big, big hugs and best wishes,
Jodi

I am so sorry about Kahlan.  It must have been terrible.  Hang in there, and get a new playmate for Madison.  It will keep her from getting depressed and lonely, and though the new playmate will never replace Kahlan, she will surely bring cheer to you and your home.

I'm so sorry about Kahlan. At least you gave her a loving home and cared about her a lot - she was a lucky girl.
