This was on the Menlo Park Rescue email list, and I thought I'd post it here. I hope someone can take this poor boy and give him a good home. I'm tempted to get him myself, but I think my husband would not be into the idea of having yet another one here...we're already a bit overwhelmed with all of the fosters.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I received a call from San Francisco Animal Care and Control today asking if I could help them place a 2 month old neutered male white & blue rat (control# 168560) who is on the euthanasia list.

They also need to find a home or sanctuary for a 3 foot (nose to end of tail) friendly Savanna monitor lizard who has been at SFACC since May 2nd.  They can keep him until next week (June 14).

If you or someone you know might be able to help with either of these guys, please let me know.  If transportation is a problem, it can likely be arranged.

On a successful note, thank you to the people who responded to my emails via mickaboo and to Marcy's emails about the quail, ducks and pigeons needing homes after being impounded at SFACC.  Marcy and I were each able to send information on a variety of bird sanctuaries to SFACC and when I received the call today about the rat & lizard I also received the good news that the birds start their trek to their new homes on Saturday and by the mid next week all should be placed into their new homes/sanctuaries!

Thank you!

OH, and I *MAY* be able to reach a family thru my ex. in CA (Bay Area) who used to have pet rats....they MAY be able to help if push comes to shove.  PLEASE let me know and I will email him....it is unknown whether he will even help, but it is worth a try.

I don't think there's going to be another transport anytime soon, certainly not one I drive  Wink

I just keep thinking about this boy. If I didn't already have 35 rats to care for......

I told Debra I'd take him at least to foster. If she doesn't find a home for him soon, he'll come here. Martin doesn't know about this yet...but I can't let the little guy die.

Kathleen, I just emailed the ex as well to ask him to be KIND and ask his friends if they can help.  Hopefully it will be well recieved and they will be able to take him.  They are around Vallejo/Benicia.

No, I don't know, but it appears that it wasn't anyone from the local group. Lucky boy found a home in time.

I am just glad he found a home.
