"Sometimes you feel like a nut"

Anyone else get this incredible excited impatient feeling as soon as you hit the order button?? I'm going nuts and its only been like 5 min! I sure hope they aren't backed up on orders. It's bad enough I have to get through the weekend!! My boys are gonna go bananas once they get in. They are going to love it!!! BTW anyone know what I can use as an extra half shelf for the top? I know stores sell them I just don't know where.

Congrats!

I had to order mine by phone (before they offered online ordering!), but I know what you mean about being excited! Grin

As far as shelving goes, I added one of THESE

I secured it with cable ties, and it works well for adding a little extra space. Grin

I ordered my R-695 with the flip top and an extra balcony.  You can probably call them now if you want to add a balcony to your order.  Otherwise you can get one of those Super Pet corner litter pans.  It hooks onto the cage.  The balcony offers more room though.  Congrats on the new cage!

Oh yeah! I have one of those litter pans, too! I forgot about that! Grin

Be sure to drill holes in the three corners, though -- it drains better when you are cleaning the cage if you wash it in the shower, like me. Grin

They could be backed up on their powdercoating - it took me almost 10 days to get my latest Martin's, but they e-mailed me right away and let me know what was going on.  I've got it now, but my grand plans have been side-tracked by rats who can't get along.

I do agree with Suebee and jp - the corner shelves and litter boxes are both great additions to any cage, I have them both in my R-670:

Edit - Ok, it looks like you can't have ANY smilies ANYPLACE before a picture.  I figured I was safe with some text as a "buffer".  That wasn't the case.  Weird....

tee hee.. we have the same white shelf and the same color ferret box!

On the petsmart site, they show the corner shelf as being black, but the store only had white!  Angry

EDIT - kmw, try removing the frowny face -- goosemoose said they have been interfering with photo displays when inserted before a picture. Not for me, but for him and for other people. Weird.

I'm starting to think I am the only person here who can actually view photos.  Wink

I didn't see any photos in this thread...if anyone was posting them.

Anyhoo...congRATs on the new cage...mine were the best investment I've ever made.

Some extra's I recommend: plastic shoe boxes, corner litter trays, super pet food hoppers, flat-bac water bottles, and a long handled scrub brush for wash day!  Grin

I just got my Martin's 695 today.  A forewarning: the instructions are not entirely clear.  Make sure that you have the two sides on the *correct* side of the back.  Otherwise, the ramp from the bottom will not line up with the hole in the upper level.  Also, (if you get it wrong & the ramp doesn't line up) you will not be able to secure the middle platform unless you attach it to the door (keeping it closed).

KMW-

I though the 670 only came with 2 balconies and 2 ramps... did you add an extra one?

lol, I did that when I got mine... it was a pain getting all of the little rings off to turn it around the right way.

Ohhh thats a very good Idea... I think I may do that as well!

the balconies come unattached right? that way you can place them pretty much anywhere? If so that would be great, so I can make room for a senior wodent wheel in there too.

I have 2 #695 cages and I learned from people on this forum to lay it out on the floor 1st.  That way you can be sure you've attached to sides the right way.

By the way, you'll LOVE your new cage!  It's got all kinds of possibilities for decorating by you and the rats.

I've only had mine for a few months and it's just SO much better than any other cage I've ever had. Easy to clean (just stick it in the shower basically), lots of space for plenty of ratties and ratty accessories, and the doors are so nice and huge you can stick your head right inside, lol..
