Well I just got back from the vet. Dr. Handel dug out the puss and crusties remaining from Odin's nueter, it would've turned into an abcess. Poor Odin squeeked loudly.
I felt so bad. But he's all clean now. He weighs 1 lb. 1 oz.! They gave me Amoxy-drops to give to him for a week, once in the morning, once at night so he won't get infected again. And the vet gave him some there, he liked it!
He readily licked it out of the syringe. So that was good. The vet was very nice! He said they've had a couple of rats in the past week and he said they like them there. I was pretty happy with this vet. I am in a good mood now and I gave Odin some nutri-cal for being a good boy. I just thought I'd let everyone know, Handel with care is a good vet.
PS - The whole thing cost me $55.00, since I have no previous experience with rats and vets, is that a good deal? The physical / clean was 37.00 and the meds were 18.00 - I expected it to be more, so I was just wondering in comparison to other vets if I got a good deal.
