A breeder contact on mine, that closed down emailed me asking if I would be interested in some of his large cages he had left over. He has 3 FN's to move and said "For the most part they are intact.  The bottom trays on all three have one corner nibbled out of them...those rats are pretty damn smart." He only wants $50 for each of them!  I'd have to find a temp. solution until I could get replacement pans and figure out how to disassemble them at least part way to get them into the house too. Do you guys think it would be worth it?

Oh yeah, I have been wanting a FN for a long time now. R they single units or the 2 floors? If they are the double units I would say thats a steal.

Do not pass them up!  You will be sorry if you do.  You can take them and then sell one if you don't need them when you get the trays.

At 50$ for each double FN, I would take all 3 , in a heart beat, without even thinking.

It's going to cost me $160 for just one 142, not including shipping.

I'd be willing to buy one from you for $50 plus the shipping..

*jaw drop*

i am SO ridiculously jealous right now!!!
I'm not going to be able to buy a FN forever, because the cheapest I can find is $200 (inc shipping), but I can't afford that anymore because I'm taking my 2 boys into the vet. One of them started some pretty serious sneezing yesterday, and I'm going to get them both looked at while I'm there.

Think he'd be willign to ship? ^.^ Cause if you don't take them all, I want one Cheesy

It would definitely be worth it, even if you have to buy replacement pans. You're going to cover the pans anyway, I assume. Go for it!

I really want them badly but I doubt we will be able to get them. We really do not have the money at the moment. I was hoping some of my family would go in on it as a birthday gift (my birthday is next week) but that did not go over too well. So I'm very bummed out now. I could keep trying or sell some things, who knows. I am not sure how urgently he is wanting to get rid of the cages though. I guess it couldn't hurt to ask him.

Where do you live?  You can offer it to some people on here if you can't take them so the good deal is not passed up. I know that many would scoop those right up.

The guy lives in New Port Richey, FL  which is a little ways from me but not too bad. I emailed to ask him in how big of a hurrry he is in to sell them but I haven't heard anything yet. Unless something happens that I come into money all of a sudden, we can't do it. If I had the $150 to spend I would have snatched them up immediately. I've wanted these cages for a long time. Argh, why does such a deal have to come around when I'm broke? oy! Though, If someone from the area is interested I could pass on the information.

You really need these cages.  At least one.
If one of the admins here will hold the fund, we could donate toward your cage and you could pay us back.  In return maybe you could donate an extra few bucks when you have it toward the board for maintenance costs when everything is paid back.  We'll be happy because we helped your rattied get a nice place, the admins may be happy because the site will get a small donation from you, you or course will be happy, and the ratties will be ecstatic.
I'd be willing to paypal in $10.

Omigosh! I've been looking for an FN...don't pass this up - I'd buy one from ya! xDD

But yes, great deal. Get 'em all! Shocked

ETA: Aww, that's a shame, though, if you can't afford it. D: I'd love to help out any way I could, but you should really try to get at least one. Tongue If not, however, pass the info on to others here. $50 bucks plus shipping is so worth it!  Tongue

Would I?  Let's just say that it's a good thing you're in FL and not closer to PA.  I'd scoop that up in an instant.  Great deal, chew marks or not.  Certainly worth it.  Heck, if you don't need them all you can sell them for $75 and that would still be a steal!

Yes, actually I do need something different. Being that I am pregnant, cleaning the martins, and other misc. cages has become a nightmare. My Fiancee means well but getting him to clean cages is like pulling teeth. Its getting harder and harder for me to do anything. Especially now that they tell me I'm anemic since my Iron/hemoglobin levels are too low. *sigh*  Something with easier upkeep would be ideal.

I figure (unless something changes) we wouldn't have that kind of money until Income taxes in January-ish. As I efile with direct deposit right after I get my w-2 (got in online last time way before the paper copy came too).  I would not expect him to hold out that long though.

I haven't heard back from him yet but when I do I will ask him if it is okay to share his information and the offer with others. I do not want to offend him by just giving it out without permission. If I don't hear anything in a couple of days I will shoot another email out to him.
