I had a retail therapy moment and bought this for the boys, but I think they like it.

They seem to. I half expected them to chew it, but so far they're OK. I imagine they're waiting till I'm off guard.

Biggest problem is the top floor where they are using the back corner as a toilet. It gets quite stinky and needs scooping out every day. I'm hoping to get more wire wall panels to give more ventilation, one or two at a time, then once I've collected six extra panels I can get another floor panel and extend upwards.

If you use the two cubic feet rule then it should take up to seven rats, but that doesn't take account of the attic. I've put all the dimensions up at http://www.rattycorner.com/ratrecords/cage/shak.shtml
