Rizzle Rat Rattery is proud to announce our upcoming inaugural litter, planned for late March! Names have been on the wait list for several months, but a few spots are still available to approved homes. While I am happy to adopt to carefully screened homes anywhere in the United States or even Canada if you are willing to drive to get them- I drove 17+ hours each way to get the momma-to-be- I will be attending the Northern Illinois Rat Organization Spring Show on May 24th, 2008, and I would be happy to meet adopters in Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, or Illinois. Pickup would be available either at the show or by meeting me along my route home from the show- not on the way TO the show, as this is prohibited under show quarantine regulations. COVE Titania of RIZL


Titania is a beautiful, petite girl with an absolutely lovely head and stunning, deep fawn color. She is energetic and playful, but is not above snuggling in a hoody and bruxing. Her father, SGR Dune, residing at Cove Rattery, was Best Dumbo Rex Buck at NIRO's Spring Show 2007. She has an incredible temperament, and enjoyed traveling over 17 hours in the car and spending nights in hotel rooms on her way home with me- this AFTER a four hour ride from Michigan to Illinois- she exhibited NO signs of stress whatsoever and energetically played on the hotel room beds! The pedigree is of course identical to Titania's, with the exception of Orvis's individual name at the top.

SGR Sleeping Oberon is my handsome curly man with the crunchiest whiskers in the world. He is full brother to SGR Dune, Best Dumbo Rex Buck of NIRO 2007. His rexing is very good, and he has a nice short head with large, expressive eyes. Obie, as we call him at home, is so full of personality- he amazes me! He plays with my hand and wrestles just like a kitten, is always bruxing and boggling when he wakes up from naps, and loves to popcorn around the room leaving a trail of pee- well, he's a  boy rat, whaddaya gonna do? We are expecting a litter of all fawn dumbos, with both rex and standard coats. There is a slight chance of beige and a very slight chance of cinnamon; however, it is quite likely that all the babies will be rich, dark, orange fawns- do I hear any complaining? No? Good!

To apply to adopt a Rizzle Rat of your own, please contact me via private message or email jelena at well dot com. The email in my Goosemoose profile works as well. There will be an adoption application and you will need to review and confirm that you can commit to my adoption contract once your application is approved. You may be required to provide a vet reference and a personal reference, particularly if you are out of state and I do not know you already. No breeding contracts to persons who are not members in good standing of NIRO will be considered, as these are COVE and SGR lines, not mine, and I will abide by their judgement and the judgement of NIRO over my own in breeder adoptions. An approved reservation does not guarantee that you will receive a baby or babies, as I can't whisper a magic number into Titania's ear and have her produce that many babies (and if I could, I would have to spend all my time whispering to pregnant rescue rats asking them to have a small litter as favors to Goosemoose members, and would have no time to breed my own)! Adoption fees are $20.00 per rat, and I prefer that babies be adopted in pairs- exceptions will be made only if there is a compatible same sex or neutered friend to whom they will be promptly introduced, though since I require a three week separate airspace quarantine, I strongly prefer that the bubs go in pairs so as not to be lonely during QT.

Oh my lord! Saydrah, I will be pming you later this week as I am working all weekend. I think I will be ready for another ratty by May, and I will be attending the NIRO show again this year and be having a booth. I absolutely love fawn/beige dumbos. My sweet Emily was a split cap beige dumbo. I miss her so much. Your rats look so wonderful I think I would like to reserve a pair either boys or girls. I think I would prefer at least one to be a rex, if not both. I will pm with more later.

There is still a little room on the waiting list, so if you want to get an application in, now's the time-- though, of course, we could end up with a tiny litter and a too-full waiting list, so an approved application isn't a guarantee you'll be able to adopt from this litter. That said, there's a strong history of litters of 12 in this family, so I'm betting on a fairly large batch of pinkies.

Weight gain indicates Titania is probably pregnant! Hurray!
