my name is Ashley and i would like to tell you my store and hope someone can help me. Last september, my husband and i were in petco looking around. something told us to go and look at the mice, rats, and hamsters. as we were looking my husband says to me "you want to get some mice? they are fun to watch play." i said to him "no if we got one of these guys i would want a rat because they are very smart and i can train him or her." he said well lets do it then. we asked for help and started our search. Stella and April were in the medium tank with a few other female rats. i fell for Stella the moment i saw her. April fell for my husband. she chose him right away. Stella wasn't so sure but i had to bring her home with April. April was the loveable one but only to my husband. she didn't want anything to do with me but she loved him. Stella was the more quiet one who would stay on my shoulder unless i leaned back where i was sitting. then she would run and hide in the cootions. well my husband was activated with his army unit and had to leave for a year. i tried to make friends with April but she wouldn't have it. when my husband come home she had an attitude with him like "you left me i don't want you no more." she doesn't like to be handled much because of it... Stella came out of her shell though and it seemed like Stella and April switched personalities. i would take Stella with me to the pet stores and she would love to sit on my shoulder and look around. i didn't sit down though with her on my shoulder because she would slide down my back and explore... my husband and i had to move and i had to get a second job. we don't have time any more to spend with our rats. because we don't spend time with them any more they ate through their cage and almost got caught by our cat. i was able to find another bottom but they are slowly eating through it. my husband and i cannot afford to get another cage and we can barley afford to get them food and bedding. the help that i am asking for is that i want my girls to go to a loving new home where they can be handled. they are good girls and deserve to have a good home. we are no longer able to take care of them...   please if anyone can or knows someone who can take them in that lives near the Augusta GA area i would be so grateful. but a little bit more of bad news. April, i found, has a lump on her chest. i cannot afford to take her to the vet right now. she seems to be fine with it and that it doesn't hurt her but still. could someone please help me i would be eternally grateful.

You should contact Amy of the GA RMCA. She should be able to either help you find a home for your girls or possibly find a foster home for them.

Here's the website : http://garmca.homestead.com/
