Hey folks,
I bought one of these:

for my boys'cage.

The picture is totally deceptive. The sleeping bag looks quite sturdy and appears to hold its position in the corner of the cage. There's nothing underneath it to support it that way. So it's completely floppy and hardly inviting, I don't know how the rats would get into it as only the rear corner is supported by the two ribbons you can see to left and right, and the mouth points downwards and certainly wouldn't hold a rat climbing in and out.  Sad Angry

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can modify it to make it useable?  Huh

For instance I wondered about putting a coat-hanger wire through the seam to make the front rigid, or to make the base strong, or to open the mouth up a bit, but of course anything with wire in will make it a) hard to wash and b) maybe unsafe.

Bit peeved by a purchase that seems unuseable!

Maybe you could sew a ribbon or two to the top near the opening and then tie it to the ceiling of the cage?

Wow. You can totally tell that they photoshopped that one. They clearly took a picture of it lying flat on the floor. Yuck.

I think the ribbon idea sounds like a good one. Or put eyelets/grommets in it where you need them, and hang it with shower curtain hooks.

Hmm, I have my suspicions... if I'm clearly not sensible enough to come up with such a simple, easy, intelligent idea then I'd never be able to actually do it, oh no.  Yellow Cute Laugh Ratty Smiley

Brill idea - will get sewing - and Suebee, thx for the idea about the shower-curtain loops!  Smiley
