2 white males very friendly and 2 hooded rats one male one female ( have had one litter, she is expecting another. free. for $10 will provide their cage and accessories (one cage is 2 months old from wal mart has 2 attatched houses) other is got tubes and accessories to attatch also.
both whites are in one cage and both hooded in the other cage.

Thankyou, originally all 4 were in the same cage and my son kept the white ones for himself (4 yrs old) the other 2 got along great and when the female gave birth in may I seperated her. when I gave away the last baby in the begining of july I put the male rat back with her near the end of july. I am not possitive exact date she got pregnant. My son has lost interest in the rats for the last month or so. And I really only feed, and change their cage, I will pat them. Unfortunatley I cannot find my cord to the camera, thaey are nice rats, they do nip from time to time as they are not being held regularly especially the female when she had babies with her, before they would never nip. All 4 were born from my original rat in dec 07.
I would defently give away without their cages aslong as they are cared for. My husband has a ball python, and I do not want them to become dinner.

A lovely woman picked them up the next day and told me the real situation...

2 Habitrail cages, pine, fed on hamster mix, cheetos, cheez whiz sandwiches, baby crackers and whatever the kids shoved through the bars.  We also found out that the babies previously were fed to the boa... . ...shall I go on?  Another lovely woman who helps out with rescue situations behind the scenes drove them to me at work.
I had an e-spay appointment booked for Monday...


Once I got a really good feel of little Sweetie I realized those babies are coming soon.  Vanessa suspected but I was sure we had awhile yet They are moving inside, low down in her belly.  You get fooled by the belly but then you realize how tiny she is and she does have one very preggy belly.

These rats are much younger than 8 months as claimed...I would say a malnourished stunted 4-5 months (IF we count that Sweetie had a prior litter).  BUT I guess the word stunted is definitely wrong to use in this case, they are beautiful little happy rats.  A bit nervous but they all really want to love someone.  Very little effort to make these guys practically bomb-proof.    I re-intro'd the sweet brother back to his PEW brothers, completely uneventful.  I found him cuddled up to one of them on the shelf.  Poor Sweetie is confused, where is her big Brother??? :sad-p:  She would huddle down and he would stand over her to protect her, it was soo incredibly sweet! 

I weighed them all and am still in some shock.
The brother Dexter is 240 grams
Leon the bigger PEW is 221 grams
Lucas the tiny shyer PEW is 202 grams
Sweetie even with her baby weight is only 196 grams.

Does anyone remember this little gal Gwinny?  I only had her for a week, and it was the most amazing week of mine and her life.  She is the rescue that touched me the most...

Ok, it's official: I'm crying. Goodness gracious, Sweetie's eye touch me like no other 'other-people's-rat' ever have. I thought Goliath was in there but methinks Sweetie kicked him a little aside and now she is the queen of my heart.
That picture of her back in the cage - she is so proud! In the first few pictures with her babies, she almost looks scared, anxious, not relaxed in the least bit. But when you put her back in, what a relief that must have been for her!
Hopefully she is done giving birth, 8 is a manageable amount of babies for her, I guess .
If they are as beautiful as momma, my goodness, I'm coming to wherever you live to adopt them! Just gimme all of them! We are down to 15 rats, what's 9 more...

Sweetie needs some nutrition, she is way too small! Avocado, green mush, soy yoghurt, crushed up lab blocks in a mush with pine nuts and Nutrical... my goodness, how did she do this? She is Wonder Momma!
I can't stop staring at her!!!

Sweetie and her brothers are gorgeous!  And very, very lucky to have found a safe place to have the babies.  I hope they soon forget everything that happened before, and are soon living the joyful lives ratties deserve.  And that Sweetie gets properly plump soon!!

Good timing Dee

We have MILK BELLIES!  Even the wee runt Zotz is active and has a little milk on one side. They all look good and she's doing a great job!

Unfortunately I ate all my nails off today. 

Sweetie is a very expressive little girl.  She lets me know when she's a bit nervous with me and the babies.  And when she settles I can pick her up.  I took a peek and picked up a few of them to check.  I gently scooped her up and let her go back to her babies.  She went and checked them under the fleece then came back out and started bouncing around and climbing up on the door of her cage.  She is now very happily esconced on my shoulder...she's smelt and licked my mouth gently and loves pats and cuddles.  I gave her so many kisses for you all just now.   

The boys came out today onto the couch and they were lovely!!  The scaredy boy Lucas the tiny PEW crept away from his sleeping brothers on the end table, crawled up onto my neck and tucked his head there and let me stroke him....awwww.  Dexter, Sweetie's male look-alike loves to lie on you and be patted and the PEW's love their cheeks being gently rubbed.   No pics I was just so happy we did so well on our first real Out time on the couch.

My goodness, what a cutie.  I'm so glad to hear that there are happy little milk bellies now.  Good job, momma.

There are no words to describe how much Sweetie tugs at my heart. That thank you picture of hers... goodness, those eyes! They go right through me! She reminds me of someone... Almost like... our momma Lucy (Divina Kuh's mom). Just that look!

I'm sorry Zotz didn't make it.  But if he didn't make it at your home, he wouldn't have made it anywhere else.

The bubs are adorable, but it is Sweetie who takes my heart! She is beautiful and seems so grateful! What a doll. Are you planning to keep or rehome them?
