My neighbors cat Kittler(don't go by the name, he's the sweetest cat)is afraid of my rats!!! :huh:When ever he comes over to my house, almost every day,he comes in, makes sure the rats are still there, walks up to the cage, the rattys come to the door of the cage to say hi and want to come out to play with him, then Kittler backs away from the cage and gives me this pittiful look like save me! Blue Dumbo Big Eyes, then he roams around the house for a while and leaves.

Weird, and proud of it!

2 of my 3 cats are scared of my rats.  At least when the rats are out of the cage....  They're curious about in the cage rats, and have almost taken nips on the nose as payment for curiosity....  Which may be why they're scared...  hehe

I personally think it has something to do with the fact that the cats are confused.  Rats are prey to them, but most domestic rats don't have a fear of cats, so they are much more forward and curious about them, which freaks the cat right out!  That's my theory, anyway.

Well my dog is afraid of my rats, partially because we told him "NO!" so many times when he was interested in them... when I take them out now, he just runs away.  He's also deathly afraid of my cockatiel too, because the bird is totally in love with him and tries to fly onto his back...

It's the same thing with my cats & rats. I'll have them out for play and they'll come running at my cats all curious and the cats just freak out and take off. Wink  It's so funny.

My cats are afraid of my rats.  Everytime the cats walk  too close to the rat cage the rats lunge at them and the cats go running.  It's fun!  Yellow Cute Laugh

Oliver, my younger cat (under a year old anyway), was trying to play with the rats the other day, while they were in the cage of course.

At first, he was just laying there upside down next to the cage, staring at them.  Then, Merlin came up to him, and he kept trying to play, putting his paws up, rolling around, etc.  It was SOO cute!  And I actually think Merlin refrained from biting him!  Oliver must have been being nicer than usual, since normally he gets his paw or nose nipped.

My 4 yr old boston terrier Oscar is a little more interested in Minnie than I feel comfortable with.
When she come out he tries to get really really close...Minnie held his nose in her 2 wee hands and kissed him. Oscar jumped back and looked at me like, "What the ....Huh She isn't supposed to do that !! "
I laughed so hard I think I scared her

oh yes....I know...I am so careful
I would love for the dogs to like / tolerate / leave her the hell alone

when she is out they are always nearby so I am hoping that they will become accustomed to each other
It is nowhere in the plan to allow her to free roam yet.
I will do everything to avoid a tragedy.
