Photo Albums on Goosemose now available to everyone.

Okay guys the Photo Albums are up and I made a few changes to them. Everyone gets 5 megs of storage but people who donate at least $3 a month (pictures are bandwith intensive) get at least 10 megs of storage (hopefully will be 50 soon). Please see the link at the top of the page for more information on donating. Soon I will have random pictures appearing on the front page of Goosemoose.com as well. Any forum member can view peoples' photo albums and comment and rate pictures. Please check this out and test it!
The goal is to raise enough to get the server on the $175 a month plan. If you have donated in the past and want a photo album, then please email me. As always, positive comments and constructive criticism are encourage. I want to make this site as easy to use and good looking as positive and constructive criticism always helps!
Storing your photos that you link in threads will speed up the forum as pictures will not have to be drawn from outside servers, which are sometimes slow.
As always, positive comments and constructive criticism are encourage. I want to make this site as easy to use and good looking as positive and constructive criticism always helps! Ask all questions here!

I was able to create an album with no problems, and it said my picture upload was successful, but when I finished it told me the "picture would be added as soon as it was approved"
is this normal or did I do something wrong???

Hi Sunwolf,
You actually did everything perfectly. I set the system up so that people who have under 50 posts have to have their pictures approved before they appear in the albums. I did this to prevent some idiot from posting porn in his album (basically a troll). Just send me a pm when you upload photos and I'll approve them until you hit 51.

I just updated the top post, the info was out dated.
SunWolf, I approved your pics. I put a few of them in the Rittens section as I wasn't sure where you wanted them.
There were tons of people who had pics waiting to be approved. Sorry guys!

Any idea why when I try to use "I have my own picture" choice for an avatar, and enter the URL to the picture in my album, all it does is default back to the premade avatar I had chosen earlier???

Right click on the picture in your photo album, select properties, then copy and paste the url that's given there and use it.

No go...tried it many, many times and still it won't work. I can change which "premade" avatar it shows, but no matter what I do, when I click "I have my own picture" and paste in the URL it just ignores the change. Funny thing is though, when I click "change profile" it reloads with "personalized" in RED TEXT, but the image doesn't change. OH WELL, the premade ones are cute, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Is the url you are using:
http://www.goosemoose.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/15917/Badger3.jpg
? That's what it should be. You probably have to put your password in the last field as well to get it to change.

Is there a way to file a photo in more than one folder without uploading it multiple times? For example, could I put the same picture into the "Rats:Closeups" folder and into one of my personal folders without having to upload more than once?

Unfortunately not in this version of coppermine. They are talking about putting it in the next version though. When you upload a file and you get the boxes that list the file name, you can select the same file in 2 lines, then it will ask you which folder you want to put each pic.

Another question...if I get the photos from another URL (rather than uploading them from my computer), then I move the photos to a different URL later, will my Goosemoose album stop showing those photos? For example, if I had a photo at
www.fakesite.com/fakephoto.jpg
, then put that URL into Coppermine to add the photo to my album, then moved the original photo to
www.otherfakesite.com/fakephoto.jpg
, would my Coppermine album still show the photo? I guess what I'm really asking is whether the album actually uploads the photo or just displays it with remote linking.
I really like the feature and I hope more people start to use it!

If you use the URL feature it's actually saving the photo on the goosemoose site, so even if the original site is taken down the photos will remain on the goosemoose photo album. Glad you like the feature

I just set up my $3 per month donation, and I was trying to start an album. I went to Reference and followed the directions. I click Photo Albums, then album, only there is no link that say create an album. There was before, but now its gone. Can someone help me?

Hi ttiwedas,
Do you see a button called user or admin? Try clicking on that and then there should be a create/modify album button. Somehow I managed to change things around and I didn't realize it, I'll have to go back and check it out.

I am having a devil of a time trying to get an album started. Not only am I trying to master the art of digital photography, I am totally incompetent in computer stuff (see, I couldn't even come up with the right lingo!!)
I was following the directions on how to start an album but once I click on continue after browsing and adding my two photos I get the message that there is a "fatal error". I'm sure that is the computer dissing me for my lack of photographic skill!! The photos are about 300 and 700KB (if that means anything to you).
Please help, I would love for you all to see my little ones.

Have you created an album first? Click on the "User" button, and then click create/modify albums. Create an album, then you can try to upload it there. Let me know if this works, I think I need to fix up the photo album tutorial in the reference section.
If you still have a problem let me know what the last few steps you took were.

I get to step 8 on your instructions. I click "continue" and a message comes up "successful uploads"; click "continue"; that's when I get a "fatal error: allowed memory exhausted". Frankly, I am getting exhausted too! It is obviously doable - so many others have. Apparently it's me (or my pictures?).

Does it say more than that? It usually will say how many bytes are exhausted. If possible just copy and paste the error message here.

Here you go:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2048 bytes) in /home/vhosts/goosemoose.com/httpdocs/coppermine/include/picmgmt.inc.php on line 209
Please tell me it's not me.

Are you sure the file is 700k and not 7 megs? I am going to make a few tweaks that will allow you to upload larger files.

I got a little farther this time - I got to step 9 where I got to fill in the name of the pic. Once again, I got this message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2132 bytes) in /home/vhosts/goosemoose.com/httpdocs/coppermine/include/picmgmt.inc.php on line 216
Desperate times call for desperate measures...I'm going to have to ask my techno saavy husband to help! Oh the shame of it all!
