To avoid excessive bandwidth and memory use (which Goosemoose pays for out of his own pocket) and the distraction of fellow posters trying to read posts, we ask that members do not use animated images in their avatars or signatures. Those that do will be asked to remove them immediately. This is out of respect for fellow posters.

Small, static images can be used in signatures, within reason. They should be in the general size realm as a standard banner advertisement or smaller.

Thank you.

Just responding to make sure this thread gets noticed again... the sizes of the signatures have been getting a little too big lately, and have been affecting dialup users and their ability to navigate the forum.

Remember, signatures should be in the realm of a STANDARD banner ad... not bigger.

A standard banner ad measures 468 x 60 pixels.

Please also try to optimize them for the web so they are smaller. If you don't know how to do this, I can help.

Thank you.

I have noticed we have had to send out a lot of warnings about animation in sigs and avatars lately.

As a result, we have started automatically removing them from member profiles, then sending a private message informing offenders of what was done and why.

PLEASE respect our simple request to keep images static, or we may have to remove the option to have signatures at all -- text OR images.

Thank you.
