I turn around and catch my old lady (27 mo) doing this:

and then she gave me this look when I caught her:

And yes, she slipped and almost fell in. It didn't stop her from pestering the fish until I went over and pulled her off.

Meanwhile, my dog takes advantage of my distraction and goes into another cage. Instead of going for the occupant of the cage (my male soft fur rat), the dog snags a piece of petblock!  Sneaky little... she used to do that with the guinea pig I babysat. Climb in his cage and help herself to his carrots if I wasn't looking.

CUTE pictures!!   Yellow Cute Laugh  Nobody told my old guy, Riff-Raff, that he's supposed to be mellow too.  He's about 2-1/2 and he still runs around the room and popcorns.

She just cracks me up because she's losing some of her agility and she'll just roll backwards. Then she'll have this confused look, like, "I WAS just standing; what happened?" So fishing is not a particularly bright idea. However, she dearly loves to torment the fish-- namely Gokudera the betta in the picture (peas apparently aren't the same. They don't bite your little rat toes/tongue or something). I used to have a big sunfish she would "play" with when she was younger. I always waited for the day that he decided she needed to take a bath  Cheeky

Here's to all our elderly  laugh May they stay spry and crazy.

Oh you haven't lived till you've seen a "fish tailing" rattie rofl!
Dilbert Doo is STILL able to walk upright, albeit flat footed, but his hips roll on him so as a result when he gets some speed going he back end goes every which way LOL!

I've got a boy who is almost 3 years, but you would never know it.  He had his first experience with a wheel when he was at least 2 and he's always on it now.  He worked his way up from a slow stroll to a brisk walk, which is pretty good for an old man with a fused ankle.  Since starting on the wheel Egor has lost a few ounces and acts like a much younger ratboy.

I think it's great that we can all celebrate the joy of elderly ratties. They sure do know how to appreciate love and life!
