I decided to let my two most aggressive boys meet under "SAFE" conditions to see if they could find some common ground. In the midst of all the testosterone, posturing, poofing, huffing, hissing...and general BAD behavior on BOTH their parts, it ended in a stalemate.

Q'Bert's no block head for certain, he's a devious one. He left Meetoo's paws completely alone, preferring to wait till ME2 turned side ways and then directing a bite at his hip. I think if ME2 would have stopped hissing and baring his teeth, Q'Bert might have tried to be friendly. But Q'Bert is just SO big, and SO strong that I just can't trust him, I'm afraid he could kill a smaller rat before I could grab him. He's all muscle, for as big as he is, there's not an ounce of squish on him!

So murderous alpha A, meeting hissing alpha B...not good lol. 20 more days till Meetoo gets "tutored" Wink Hopefully he'll stop lunging at the smaller boys when they are around for out time (the only time he's in his cage)

Yeah, but he's not quite 6 months old and already ALMOST as big as Q'Bert who is a mature 18 months lol!

He actually did get a few punches landed on Q'Bert's snout. I think that shot was caught pre-punch through the bars lol!

This one's eye sight must be better than average for a pew!  On the snout, huh!
Yeah, the four I have left are getting pretty closely bonded.  They may have to stay if I can't find a home that will take all four.

Like I said, I think by the end he had earned Q'Bert's grudging respect, it was MeeToo that kept up the hissing, teeth baring and paw nipping lol. I don't think Q'Bert's ever had a rat stand up to him before, he was a bit befuddled by it lol! I love Q'Bert's squinty eyes though, you can just see the deviousness in them! He's a crafty bugger. Surprisingly, I was directly behind Q'Bert the entire time, he'd jump on my knee, get some scritches, then back to MeeToo lol. He'd never harm his daddy!

Heh, is it wrong I find all their posturing amusing.   Yellow Cute Laugh

Just a warning though.  Meeting through the bars isn't always safe.  I've had rats lose fingers, when meeting each other through cage bars like that.  Very ouchie for the rat on the receiving end.
