Need some help on a newborn baby ratty question

I am fostering a dbl rex that my daughter is adopting, who had a litter of babies, that died, but she was going through a VERY stressful situation. We got her out of there 4 days after she'd had her first litter. The girl that had them said she and the male were too"depressed"apart, so put them back together, knowing full well she would get pregnant again. She went to the rescue for a little over a week, the vet couldnt work her in for an e-spay, so she came her to go through her pregnancy. Well we had 10 beautiful babies. Being the nervous grandma I am, She had them yesterday, and they had wonderful milk bands...on my little check over today, i didnt see anything that resembled milkbands. Do these change color/pass from site, etc, or is there problems with her milk?
Please anyone that can answer, please let me know. I am used to fostering the seniors with health issues, pregnant/new mom rats are a whole differant thing for me, and I havent been able to find the answer from anyone.
thanks

How are they today? As far as I know, milkbands are supposed to be visible for at least the first few days, until their skin thickens and their fur starts to come in.

Keep checking all day long. For the first day I saw almost no milkbands and I think that the milk gets digested and goes through quickly so you won't see a milkband until they feed again. Does she go to suckle them and they get quiet?

They are doing great...The mom is GRET-EXTREMELY protective....someone get me some bandaids...lol
I am at 8 babies now, I thought a couple looked extremely weak. And lilspaz, your right, the bands come when they drink, and disappear as its digested. They all have nice little bands as of an hour ago. I fought my way through, literally, put mom in a differant cage, took them out for a baby count, and to see what there were, for colors, if I could tell...Mom's a dbl rex, blk hooded marked, no hair except a face mask of fuzz. dad is a beige capped....shes got a couple PEW's, and some darker capped, and what looks to be a black eyed white, but that could change as they grow their fur in, and whiskers look straight, but these old and tired eyes could be playing tricks...time will tell.
Thanks folks

I hope we all can stop praying to the Milk Gods...this poor little girl, very young, this is her second litter in 3 weeks, and shes only about 5-6 inches long, without her tail. I don't beleive she will grow much more, after all her growing has gone to unnessary motherhood. 10 just was too much for her to handle, and 8 is alot for a rattie her size, but right now, they were 48 hours old this morning, the 8 surviving are doing good. there is 1 little one I am a little concerned for, but I am hoping it makes it.
thanks for the prayers.

I also have a young rescue momma on her 2nd litter at home
Right after birth she weighed 166 grams and had 8 eepers, although the runt died in less than 24 hours.
My Sweetie is only 5" long. I am tracking the eeper's weights from Day 9 on, and even now at Day 18, my largest is 35 g and my teeny girl is 22 g.
Fingers crossed for your teeny ones too!!!

Try supplementing the runt of the litter with the instructions found here
http://www.rmca.org/Articles/orphans.htm
It should help the little one have a better chance of survival, especially if he's not too old yet. Hopefully this keeps the count the same and you don't end up one less.
