Hi all - I'm new here and hope I'm posting in the right spot!  We have a wonderful 1 yr. old rat, Rascal, whom we need to give away.  I'm the 'caretaker' mommy and pet lover, but we've found out I'm also very allergic to him.  I used to let him sit on my shoulder while I sat at the computer, or on my lap while I watch tv, etc., but now I break out into painful, itchy red welts all over my arms, neck, and throat.  (anywhere he touches)  I've also developed severe dry-eye, which my dr. thinks is due to the allergy.  Someone local has expressed interest in him, but I know her husband has a snake, and just had a bad feeling, so I said no.  We're holding on to Rascal until he has a good home, but meanwhile he's not getting much love or playtime, since that depends on me and those welts just keep me away!

Basics - he's a white, black-hooded, part fancy, part Rex rat, bought from a pet store about a year ago.  We figured he was born in July.  His whiskers curl towards his nose, which is really cute, and he loves to be held and given seed treats.  Please let me know if you're interested or just need to know more.  He's a sweetheart, and I just want him to have more interaction and playtime than we can give him.  Thank you!  (thefam90@yahoo.com)

Sorry, I realized in the middle of the night that I'd forgotten to add that to my post!  I live in Evansville, Indiana.

I should add that Evansville is 2 hours west of Louisville, KY; about 3 hours east of St. Louis; 3 hours south of Indianapolis, and 3 hours north of Nashville.  There is a wonderful lady here, a former rat-rescuer, who recommended this forum to me.  She would be more than willing to give Rascal a good home, but is unable to right now, so she's pointing me in helpful directions.  It's a sad thing for me; Rascal isn't "just a rat" - he's a little pet, with a spirit and personality all his own, and I feel bad that I've become so allergic to him - I didn't used to be, and the poor guy doesn't understand why I'm not holding him and playing with him like I used to, and it's not his fault.
Anyway, my email is thefam90@yahoo.com, and I check it fairly often, so feel free to write me there if not here, for more information.
As a reminder, he's part Rex and is hooded, friendly and curious, and was born in July 2007.
Thanks for your consideration.
