first off, you really want to try to talk you parents into letting you get another if it's a lone rat. rats are extremely social and will become very sad and lonely without a friend. also, i hope you did some research before getting him! if not just look around here theres lots of helpful info :]

bathing rats isn't really necessary unless they're just plain FILTHY or have fleas or something. every now and then my oldest boy (an albino,) will get super greasy and turn pink so he gets baths.

but if you must, it's very easy. just fill the sink up with WARM water and insert rats. use kitten shampoo and if the rat is a boy, you can also use a tiny dab of Dawn dish soap to cut the buck grease. lather up, then dip the rat in the sink to rinse them. if that doesn't seem to be getting the shampoo out, you can also run the faucet over them but sometimes the noise scares them.

then grab a hand towel (like the medium sized ones) and wrap up the rat and rub it gently. once it gets fairly dry you can let them go and they'll take care of the rest :3

Here's a couple of links to how to bathe a rat:

Rats Rule!

Rat Guide

You might also spend some time looking at those sites. They have lots of good information about how to take care of rats. One of the most important things you can do for your rat right now is start a savings account for her veterinary costs. Eventually, all rats will need to see a vet. It's a good idea to have some money saved up for that when it happens.

Are they boys or girls? Congrats on getting them!!

I like to look at people's signatures, there are so many fun names to "borrow" for your ratties!
