I live in Santa Ana, CA and I have been looking for a rat to adopt for a very long time. I don’t currently own one but I have everything that is needed to accommodate one from the cage to toys. I have been looking for local breeders but I haven’t had any luck. All the places I have emailed have not yet responded or the phone numbers are not working. I don’t want to get one from a pet store and need some help in finding my perfect fuzzy friend.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on where I can find a great local breeder?
Any websites I should look into?
Does anyone have any for adoption?

I am looking for a Blue, Mink, CHAMPAGNE or Cinnamon. I am not that fussy on the type but those types are the ones that have caught my attention the most.

Well I do know Happy Go Lucky Rattery currently has several young boys and girls looking for homes in Orange County, not bred by the rattery but rescued.

First of all, I was born in Santa Ana, now in Oklahoma (go figure)
Second, have you thought of a rescue rat/s?

If you are willing to make the trip, I am not too far away. I am located near San Bernardino, which is about an hour's drive from Santa Ana. I am expecting two litters this month that will produce Russian blue, and in the future will have a few litters that will produce mink. Check out my website: http://www.blackwolfrattery.com

I have two of Sorraia's rats and they are the sweetest, most wonderful little boys ever!  If you do decide on a breeder over a rescue, her rats are fantastic.

I came across your website but I could not figure out where you were located. My zip code is 92626 and I don’t mind that drive as long to San Bernardino if it’s not longer than an hour, I don’t want to drive too far.

Where exactly are you located? How much would a Russian Blue Female be? Do you have any more spots left on the reserve list for a Russian blue female?

You can email me at Arreguinmarco@yahoo.com if that is easier for you.

Not sure if you currently have rats or not, but I thought I would just give a quick mention that rats are social and should be kept in at least pairs :3  Having a lone rat can cause him/her to become depressed.

Many Kudos for looking for a breeder over a pet store,  Definitely a better choice. :3

Sorraia, if things work out for you guys, we may be able to take babies as far as Midway City on one of our monthly (or so) trips. Typically, we go every 5-6 weeks. You would need to work everything out of course. We require a donation on gas too. In this case $10-$15 for the trip.

Keep me updated.

Also, at least for myself and the ratteries I work with, we do only adopt in same sex pairs. Sorry for answering for you Sorraia.

So if there aren't ratties already at home, the adopter must take at minimum a pair. Ratties are social and would be very lonely without their friends. They are raised with many different ages of rats (I just introduces a five week old male into my manly men'z cage. The ages there are between 2 years and now 5 weeks.
