2 Babies, both the littlest of Niamh's litter but both got to 4 weeks of age, died suddenly despite having been playing, eating and being lively.

My previous guys...
Willard - Black hooded male (friend bred feeders, saved this one for me) - 10 months, unknown, passed in his sleep
Scabbers - Mismarked Black Berkshire (breeder who worked at a pet store. Her private rat) - 30 months, tumor
Wormtail - Black hooded male (same breeder, different time) - 67 months, expected to just be old age. Crawled away, went to sleep, never woke up...
Current guys:
Remy - Black hooded male (pet store that aforementioned breeder used to work at) - 2.5 months...so far so good
Emile - Blue capped Dumbo (breeder that pet store now buys rats from...Remy's half brother) almost 2 months...again, so far, so good!

Hi my poor Jemima passed away after being scared by a cat, we had a neighbors cat in an he jumped onto the cage pushing the lid and held her in his mouth, she seemed okay and was gals to be away from him but she passed away in the night ~ 14 months old
And her sister died of a mammary tumour that the bloody vet wouldnt operate on, he said she had six weeks, she lived for nearly 18 months after the dignosis, 2years 2 months, tumour.
And Strapthe final sister is very poorley at 2 years 8 months she is a real fighter and does not want to give in but I expect the worst over the next few weeks

My poor Charrlotte baby was only 4-6 weeks from a pet store. Sweetest little angel! Gave kisses, cuddled, and fell to sleep in your hand. She died 10/11/07 while I was at school. Death unknown, but suspected brain tumor or stroke. Maybe trauma to the spine.

Okay, here are mine.
Hunter- siamese, well over 3 years, (probably closer to 4), can't give exact. He was already an adult when found living at a florist shop
Cheech- black hooded, 2 years, mourned himself to death after the death of his best friend who he raised and took care of all his life, just couldn't manage to get him through it, suddenly aged very fast
Chupe (Chupacabra)- 22 mos. had health problems all his life, taken from his mother too early, lack of nutrition that would have come from mother's milk compromised his immune system, one day his body just couldn't fight any longer, died in his sleep
Socrates- albino, 5-6 weeks, megacolon

Hmmmmm hello i am new to this forum and i have only had three rats but i would like to participate in this survey.
Lester - We had Lester for 3 years and he ate all the worst things you can give a rat - he died of cancer finally
Zoe - Many years after Lester i bought Zoe from a pet store. I had Zoe for 4 years and finally she also developed cancer i had to have the vet put her down cause she was barely moving around and couldn't eat anymore
Now I have little Iban he is about five weeks old. I own a dog grooming salon in the same building as a pet store. He was the runt of his litter and his mom was beating up on him. The store owner put him in with a snake but the snake didn't want him. So, the whole time really didn't know what was going on until i saw him in the snakes cage and he was so skinny and sick looking. So, i pulled him out and started feeding him formula and he's doing great we'll see how it goes though.

My breeder rats have died in 26-33month of age range. Some peacefully from old age, most from tumors(I keep females) and only two exceptions.
Checka died at about 16m of age of unknown causes (face/neck suddenly swelled up...became weak to the point of unable to properly walk within an hour...died 5 hours later in her sleep)
Her sister, Blainka, died at 22m...cause unknown for sure but vet had suspected heart problems
-
My only 2 pet store rats both died due to tumors....one died at about 18m (internal inoperable tumor), the other at 22m after tumor that was removed came back.

Two rats to add:
Zuko: lived 1 year and 8 months. Passed of unknown causes, but he had a tumor once before so my guess is he had another tumor in his brain or some other neurological problem.
Vaughn: about 2 months. Died of unknown causes several hours after a successful surgery to drain an abcess and castrate him.

A few more rats I have to unfortunately add to the list
Maurice - 35 months (just a few days before 3rd birthday), Rescue, Developed Degenerative Osteoarthritis, but the actual cause of death was most likely old age.
Bobo - approx. 19 months, Rescue, No previous health problems, died extremely suddenly, within 24 hours of not seeming like himself he was gone. I think it may have been a stroke, but no definite answers.
Lily - approx. 30 months, Pet Store, Became aggressive with cagemates in older age, had to be separated and wouldn't tolerate other rats near her. Couldn't see any signs of illness, months later she passed away.

Shelley's owned by 13 rats.

Girls: Lily, George, Ella, Luna, Mora, Zoe, Cocoa, Tessa & Addie

Tallulah-Belle, my gorgeous agouti self girl.
20 months, suspected stroke. Got her from a private owned pet shop, that I know the owner from, and who adores her ratty-babies. She had a benign mammary tumor successfully removed around 13 months.

Another one lost.
Sophie: spayed female, surrendered at Petco with her mom and siblings and offered as a free adoptable.
@ 22 months old. Had vaginal bleeding that we first suspected to be an infection of her uterine stump. Didn't respond to medicine and assumed it was a mass. Tried to surgically remove it but she died during the operation. Biopsy showed cancer.
