Where to buy a pen?
« on: December 13, 2011, 05:43:18 PM »
I would like to buy a dog exercise pen for my rabbit so she can be in it in my room (with the door closed) while I'm out. They are SOO expensive! I can't find any on craigslist either.... Are there any other places I can find one that's cheap?
Dogs, cats, rats, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and a rabbit oh my!

Best plan is probably to make one.   You can use the storage cube grids and get some linoleum.

Where would you suggest buying them from? I think i've seen them at Target, but I'm not 100% sure...

Check ebay or something.

If you use the grid cubes, you can get them at Target.

Amazon has the Midwest exercise pens on sale right now for 30.48 for the 30 inch ones with free shipping. Seems like a good deal to me, I was going to pick up a few for our rescue. Link: http://www.guineapigcages.com/ I know that the site focuses on Guinea Pigs, but as you'll see, here: http://www.goosemoose.com/rfc/index.php?topic=4088467.0 the grids can be used for rabbits as well and are pretty cheap.

I have two of these
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Midwest-Pets-Exercise-Pen-with-Door-in-Black-Finish/14042432
and love them. Really good quality. They're only 24" high, but I've never had a problem with jumpers. The ones from Amazon would probably be a better deal if your looking for more height.

I've read some about the cube panels, but don't have any experience with them myself. I know they're only about 14" high, so I'm assuming you'd have to do two rows. I can't think how you'd keep them standing up, unless you put a roof on? By the time you bought them all, would it cost more than a pen? I know my boys go crashing around in theirs, too, so you'd want something that would stand up to a good hit.
