Scrapbooking scraps as bedding?
« on: April 02, 2005, 12:32:20 PM »
I've been working on a scrapbook recently, and now I have little bits of leftover cardstock paper all over the place. I bet the rats would LOVE to have it as bedding, but would it be safe for them to have? It's acid-free paper, but I wasn't sure if the dyes would be safe for them... or do I just worry too much?

If its paper or cardboard with no ink on it its probably fine and I'm sure they'll have a blast ripping it up and  making giant nests with it

I'm sure your rats will love the scraps.  If not, I use my scraps for serendipity squares.  They're the funnest scrapbooking thing to make hehe

Here's an article on them:
http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Techniques/Serendipity/35.php

You just randomly stick scraps all over a piece of paper then cut it into squares.  You get mosaic looking squares that all look different, yet match each other.  I usually use smaller random pieces.  You just cover a whole paper (or half a sheet, however much you have) in the scraps then cut into squares.  I love them!  It's the one thing you can't mess up  ;D

The scrapbook I just finished was actually on the wild animals I work with (and the people, too, lol). I haven''t made one for the rats... yet...
