 :o

I wish I could have done a 4th of july theme, but I missed it this year (I was out in a friend's cabin :)) and I totally forgot. Plus it would have been crap anyways because I only have two liners  I blame Heidi.

Mine was ordered yesterday! I am still gonna do a fourth of july theme for the first decoration set I do, cause I need to buy more fleece for liners, I only have about 3 choices between now and the 15th when I get paid. how long did it take for yours(anyone here) to get to you? Mine is coming from Petstreetmall....

I bought my two level critter nation from ebay for 240 with free shipping. It should get here sometime between today and Friday. All these pictures are so unique and helpful. I think making themes is a good way to make cleaning time a lot less boring!

I have an odd request for all of you CN owners! Could someone get a picture of the whole half (or 161) of one of their rats (male if you can!) climbing the bars of the cage? Mine LOVE to climb high and are pretty large so while I think about getting a CN I need to take the climbing space into consideration because their cage now is very tall.
Thank you in advance if you can post one!  :)

If you look closely there's Heidi clinging to the side of the cage xP She got there from the floor, so it's pretty easy to climb up. Then again, she's a hyper baby girl... not a lazy boy :P

P.S.- Would you guys mind if I posted pics of my CN in my new living room in a few weeks when I move out of my parent's house? :hyper:

Okay, here is Tucker climbing the girl's CN. Tucker is 7 months old (already, where does the time go?!)...and he weights enough so that I can't hold him/pick him up by just 1 hand.

Oh, he wants you to know that just because he lacks the butt pillows...doesn't mean he isn't aaaaaall man  :cheeky:.

You're welcome  ;D.

I have 2 shelves in my FN (where the boys live for now) because I think it uses the space much wiser, so there isn't much room for climbing the cage bars. My boys save that for play time...they always race up and down the bars of the CN & FN.

Ok, I changed my mind.  I'm getting a Critter Nation cage!  I want the two story so I can decorate it all awesomely.  I'm sure it was stated in here, but I don't have time to read all 33 pages... How do you make the braided fleece ropes?  Just braid strips of fleece and tie off the ends?  I definitely want the bunk beds, but I'm going to try to make the top one a canopy bunk.

Yay, first post!

I've only been owned by rats for less than two weeks, but I'm already on my 3rd cage! The first cage was one that I built, but my attempts at making the bar spacing small enough for two six-week-old females failed. So they spent a few days in a plastic tub while the CN was on order. I was very happy with PetStreetMall; I ordered it on Saturday and it arrived Thursday. One bar was bent, but the cage was in otherwise perfect condition.

My cage looks bare compared to most of yours, but that's mostly because the girls haven't discovered the joy of hammocks.

lilchris....yep, as simple as braiding fleece and knotting the ends  ;D. I like to make little mini ones that they carry around. I have also made weird "spider" looking toys out of fleece. You can really get creative!

These are my 2 new Critter Nations I got for my girls.  I think I need a couple more, but for now my little boys stay in a couple of Rat Manors (like they sell at Petco) and my big boys have a 3 tier Ferret Nation.  I don't have my hammock sets yet as a friend of mine was supposed to get them made for me and hasn't come through, but I did get some liners and put their toys in them.  =)  I've never posted pics before so here goes.

Your cages look awsome, but i have one question. Is that pedigree dog food your feeding them? If it is I would really switch them to something else. Pedigree is one of the worst dog foods on the market. I worked at a kennel for some years and the kennel owner insisted on feeding her dogs that food. Her dogs were always coming down with tumors, and about 7 of her dogs died of cancer while i was there. The vet kept telling her it was the pedigree, the corn level in the food is way to high, not to mention all the other garbage ingredients.
I would suggest a high quality dog food like Solid Gold, or a high quality rat food lie Oxbow. It's much healthier.

It doesn't look bare at all, it looks really awsome! I wish I could say when i first became a rat owner that my cage looked like that, but nope it was pretty bare. You must've really done some major homework, cuddos :thumbsup2:

I agree and so would everyone else around here  :(. I hope that that dog food isn't all that those rats are being fed.

Oh, not at all.  Even if the local store around here carried Pedigree, which they don't, I wouldn't feed it to them.  I only use dog food as a treat and I only put so much in there so they could have something to nibble on while I took pics and filled their water bottles.  =)  I tried to find a dog food with as low a protien percentage as possible for a treat and that's it.  My ratties get fed Harlan Blocks 2x a day (that I drive an hour+ 1 way to get from a pet store I order it from) along with a dog food, dry low-sugar cereal, nuts, whole grain pasta, and other good for them muchies for lunch as their snack as well as vitamins added to their water.  Don't fret.  My rats are happy, healthy, and extremely well fed.  Thanks for the concern though.  :)

What kind of dog food is that, though? I have never seen a quality dog food being shaped oddly like that.

If the whole picture post could stop being quoted over and over, that'd be good

I'm also curious as to what dog food it is, since all high-quality dog foods I've seen never have weird-shaped kibble or different colors.

Plus, it's not really a good thing to feed that much dog food.  Dog food is supposed to be used as a supplement, not as a staple.

It looks exactly like Pedigree to me.  According to Sue Bee's website, a high quality dog food can be a staple, but it needs to be supplemented with something, such as suebee's diet.  Or you can feed strictly a high quality lab block, preferably soy-based... I've been doing my homework.  Now I just need the rats lol.
