Seven Kittens Needing Homes - Central Valley of CA
« on: August 26, 2012, 11:22:23 AM »

It was a hot afternoon, predicted to be 104 degrees outside. It sure felt hotter than that though. My boyfriend and I were in Petsmart picking up some supplies that I needed for the opossums. While we were checking out one of the the workers walked up with a kitten in her arms. She said that someone had left this little one in a shopping cart outside. Poor little girl was meowing and hot. My boyfriend picked her up and held her to his chest and began to rub her and she started purring instantly. Knowing that the local SPCA was already overrun with cats and kittens, we told the employees that we would take her home and try to find her a home. While on the way home I gave her some water from my water bottle and she lapped it up very quickly. She is the sweetest kitten that absolutely loves to be held. She slept with me in my bed all night, meowing to let me know she needed to go to the bathroom. Smart enough to wake me up instead of having an accident on the bed. After coming back to lay down she went right back to sleep in my arms. She is approximately nine weeks old and now looking for her forever home.

Six little sweethearts are soon to be looking for their forever homes. They have all been handled/played with since birth and are now five weeks old. Four males, two females. The two females are the calicos in the picture. These babies came from a stray pregnant calico female who "adopted me" because she began to hang out in my backyard. She was very skinny when I first saw her, although I could see that she was pregnant. So I began to feed her since she had little ones growing inside. When she seemed just about ready to pop, I brought her inside the house to get ready to have her kittens. I made up a nesting box for her and sure enough, the next day she gave birth to six little ones. I'm glad I was able to bring her in so these kittens did not have to be born in this hot summer heat, or even worse, be taken in by animal control and put down at the shelter from them having no space for them. Please contact me for more info if you are interested in any of them. Thank you.

Good luck to you and the kitties.  They are for sure cuties.

People will probably want to know definitively if any of them have had any types of veterinary care.  Even  if not, it doesn't mean you won't find homes, but it'll help people know more about them.

Also, don't forget to check around for rescues, too.  I'm not familiar what's in your area, but good google searches may help.

Best,

Raaz.

Thanks for the advice. Luckily, they are doing good here in my home and I don't have a time limit on them being out. But I would like to find them home asap. I have four of my own pet cats. So with seven kittens, plus the mom, that makes me have twelve cats and I feel a little bit like the crazy cat lady. Haha. It's bad enough I have 37 opossums!  :laughing7: I've talked to rescues around me and given them my info to hopefully help find homes for them through the rescues. Until then, I am their foster home.
