Auntie Pams Pantry-Handcrafted Soap, Jewelry & More
« on: January 21, 2014, 04:23:44 PM »
I've started a store on Etsy, Auntie Pams Pantry. I plan on having handcrafted soaps, jewelry and, eventually, cloth tote bags, as well as hammocks & other items for our rattie pals. As of today I only have jewelry listed. The rat-friendly soaps will be coming soon. Sewn items will appear once I replace my sewing machine.

My soaps are made using the cold process and are primarily olive and coconut oil based. No artificial colorants or fragrances are used. Most are vegan.

Currently I'm making mostly earring and pendants using gold or silver-plate, lampwork and other glass or crystal beads. A few pieces feature vintage glass beads. All are handcrafted by me, so you will see the occasional tool mark. A selection of soldered glass pieces will be coming soon.

My immediate goal is to raise money to buy a used RV. This an urgent priority since I could very well become homeless in the not so distant future. Once the store gets going a portion of the proceeds will be used to support rescues.

I look forward to your comments and suggestions on my store. Thank you!

Not to disrespect your craft, but i am also a cp soap maker and it is not recommended to make soap for animals or babies by cp. as the ph of cp soap is much higher than commercial soaps using surfectants which they can adjust the ph with other ingredients therefor making it more compatible with animal and babies natural skin ph. You cannot adjust cp soap ph so the ph of cp soap is always around 10 which is not recommended for use on animals or babies.
I just wanted to toss this out there incase you might not have known. Some people report using cp soap on babies and dogs with no ill affects. But take caution if you do.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Had a death in the family. Anyway, I'm not offering international shipping yet. Still trying to find a way that's not overly expensive. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Thank you for your concern, Kitsch Slapped. Certainly gave me something to think about. I did some research and found this.

I also found another site which covered more about ph and human skin.
http://goatmilkstuff.com/Goat-Milk-Soap-pH.html
I acquired some ph test strips and checked the soap I currently have on hand. They've all tested at 9 and given the information in the above sites, I'm comfortable with the recipes in using. I've decided to include the ph information on my labels so people can decide for themselves.
At this time the soaps I'm making are intended for human use. When I develop recipes specifically for animals I will keep what I've learned in mind and strive for a ph closer to neutral.

Since my mothers passing I've been doing a lot of cleaning & clearing. I'm having to sell off everything I can to pay bills. I've started adding some of my mothers vintage costume jewelry. If you like sparkly pieces from the 50's & 60's you might want to check them out. I'll be adding more each week.

Started a second Etsy shop to sell my mothers vintage items; Etsy.com/shop/MomsClothesNStuff Changed my short term goal to 1) keeping my phone on (so I don't lose all my businesses) and 2) getting a new sewing machine to expand my offerings on Etsy.com/shop/AuntiePamsPantry The RV is still my top long term goal.
If you're not interested in buying anything right now but would like to help me raise funds for the new sewing machine, I've also set up a fundraiser at https://www.youcaring.com/AHandUpNotAHandOut
Feel free to repost any of these sites. I need all the help I can get.
