I would recommend emailing Heart of Texas Rats (Sonja @ HeartOfTexasRats.com without the spaces) and ask who she recommends in the area. She is in or near SA. I'm in Austin but I don't know of any good rat vets south of Austin.

I need a vet! I am in Denver Colorado and have been searching everywhere. It has given me a headache, especially with all the prices that have been listed. The vet I had been going to was well... idiotic but the prices were awesome. I guess I have been spoiled when it comes to the prices. it was only 46 bucks to see both girls, now I am hearing prices of 60 bucks per rat and up. I am fine with paying more for a good vet but I do not know which vet is the best vet to go to. I looked into Washington Park Vet office which seems to be at the top right now but I have no clue is they are the best vet to go to. Someone please help! It is not an emergency right now I would just rather have a vet lined up in case it becomes an emergency.  :help:

Okay, now I'm a little more desperate. My females don't have anything wrong with them, but I want to spay them ASAP. The cheapest I've found is $200 a spay and I have 3, so it would be $600 total. Anyone know of somewhere cheaper in the Chicago area?

If you haven't found one yet and don't mind a bit of a drive, you could try Jasper Animal Hospital in Lafayette, CO.  I used to work there until December.  I personally think the vets there are some of the most caring and committed people I've ever met, and the prices are extremely reasonable.

I moved back to California, otherwise I would still be working there!  Now I'm trying to find someone who doesn't charge 300$ for a neuter.

Anyone know of any relatively inexpensive vets in the SF Bay Area for neuters?  I'm in Oakland but don't mind driving 50 miles or so.  My rDVM is Dr. Lankes at Central Marin Cat and Exotic Hospital, and I love love love her but they charge about $300 for a neuter and that's just a bit too much for me.  I will probably use her for my spays though, just because I trust her and her staff a lot.

Detroit vets? I know about a few of them, but it would be nice to get some info from someone with firsthand experience from them.

Desperately seeking a GOOD vet in northeast Indiana.   Our old vet is no longer in practice and we have literally gone through probably ten different vets in the last couple of years TRYING to find one that knows rats.

We've been to an "exotics" specialist vet in Indianapolis that has been highly recommended and found them to be rude and cocky. We had taken a previous rat there that had respiratory illness and they had suggested only one treatment for it which didn't work.  When asked if they would try other meds, they said no, that was the ONLY med that would do anything.   So I left and found another vet who put my then rat on another med and he quickly recovered and lived for over another year!

That particular vet isn't an option at the moment though (my sister is looking for a vet for her rat and they live in a diff city).

Anyway, she is looking for a vet in the Fort Wayne area if possible...   She has a sick rat that needs a vet asap.  :(  Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I will be getting my first ratties this summer once I move from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. I don't know of any exotics vets in Kamloops and would very much appreciate finding one if anyone knows of one.

Thank you in advance.

Vet in Los Angeles
« Reply #265 on: July 01, 2012, 06:03:09 AM »
I am looking for a few great Vet options in Los Angeles. I found  a great vet in
Pasadena that sees rats but she is too far from me now and very expensive. All of the vet recommendations (on lists) I see from LA were seen last in 2002 or 2005.

Help! And thank you!

Ivy

Anyone near Madison, WI, there is an "exotics" vet on the west side, but I LOVE my vets on the near East side at Healthy Pet Vet clinic.  They aren't super-duper fancy but what immensely knowlegeable and wonderful vets and staff...and they know about most small pets and some exotics.  Their prices can't be beat, either.  Mostly I just love their caring attitudes.  There are three vets there, I have my primary one but am happy to see any of them.   ;D

I know it's been nearly a year and you may never see this, but just in case, I have an EXCELLENT vet in Columbus, NC. That's about 15 minutes or so from Hendersonville. Dr Fitch @ Bonnie Brae Veterinary: http://www.bonniebraeveterinaryhospital.com/ I have been seeing him exclusively for a few years now, he is very knowledgeable and incredibly sweet and he loves rats!

Let me try posting this in the correct spot this time.

I need a vet near Lexington KY. The Lexington vets charge 55 dollars a rat even if they dont need to see them (I.e: we need baytril for our babies, but we don't have 220 dollars to take them in, just so the vet can prescribe Baytril then pay for the Baytril.)

It needs to be within 30 minutes of the surrounding area as we have no idea on how to get around Kentucky. Thank you~

This exotic vet search may be helpful to some: http://www.aemv.org/vetlist.cfm

It doesn't include all of them, and be aware it also rarely -if ever- includes rats in the 'exotic pets seen' but that doesn't mean the vets don't see them.  :)

Hello. As some people may have seen, I recently obtained my first ever rats. I want to take them in to see a vet, because I have a feeling they've never been to one before (based on the circumstances at which I obtained them).
I live in Port Huron, MI 48060.
I know there is one in Marysville, MI. But I'd really like to know if there is one even closer, perhaps in the same town.
