Think I found a lump

(1/1)

swub:
I might be over reacting (I do that sometimes  :-\) but last night I thought I felt a lump on my cats chest. I was stroking her today and there it was. It's not very obvious and just feels like slightly thickened tissue.

Iwondered if anbody here has ever had a similar problem. Obviously  I'm worried that it could be a tumour.

I understand the risk of cancer is greatly reduced in spayed cats. She is spayed but it was only done when I got her, by which time she was an adult (RSPCA said 2 years, vet said middle aged - that was nearly 6 years ago). What difference would that make?

Marybelle:
It can make a difference what age they are when they're spayed.  Your best bet is a vet and a biopsy to be sure.  Unless, of course, you can't find the lump today...  :)  I've had those mysterious lumps  show up and disappear, too, and I'm never sure if it's the cats playing tricks on me or my overactive imagination.

zooat113:
The kitten who is our kittens' littermate had what seemed to be a small lump near his front elbow right after he got back from his neuter surgery, was there for a day or two then dissappeared, we thought possibly a lymph node?  I'm not sure if that kind of thing is the same for cats as for people, and it was just a part of him healing up or what, kinda strange 'tho.
Mysterious lumps  :-\

Lumps on cats can be many things.... A bite from a friendly fight or not so friendly fight, just a weird random lump, or even a tumor. I'd say go to the vet to check it out, but no need to worry.
