Yuki is getting neutered tomorrow...

...and I'm a ball of nerves because of it!!

We were supposed to get him neutered last year..  but ugh.  After losing two cats about a year and a half ago, I've been really over-protective and worrisome..  I'm actually really scared of taking him tomorrow because I'm worried something might go wrong.

He's super healthy..  except for some kind of nasal problem.  He breathes funny..  you can hear it especially when he purrs, but he's always making little honking and wheezing noises.  Our vet said "that's just the way he is", and that if they tried to fix it, they'd probably end up making it worse.  Yuki also had some boughts with tapeworms and yeast infections in his ears - ew!  But anyways, he was deemed healthy by our vet now, so that's why we decided to finally take him in.  That, and we wanted to wait til after our trip to NC so we could be home to watch him.

Sooo...  neutering IS super safe these days, right?  I don't have anything to worry about, right???   :-\

Edited to say that I meant he had tapeworms in general - not in his ears!!!   ;D

Neutering is safe! Nothing to worry about and I'm asuming he'll be coming home the same day.

We'll keep you in our thoughts to make you feel better but he'll come out a-ok! :) No worries!

I had my kitten Boris neutered last year.  He was absolutely fine.  His sister Billie was fine, despited the fact that it was the first time ever they'd been apart.  Me?  I was a total wreck.  After I'd dropped him off at the vets in the morning I went to work and by lunchtime it hurt my chest to breathe I'd got into such a state.  I went home to get some Camomile & Honey tea bags and check on Billie.  She sat on the kitchen worktop in front of me, sat up on her haunches and pummelled my chest.  I don't know what she did, but it worked wonders - my chest eased and I could breathe painlessly again.

When I picked Boris up in the evening the nurses said "He might be a bit quiet for a while . . . . but he probably won't, 'cos he hasn't been so far."  He was manic.  He LOVED whatever medication he'd had.  He looked a bit sore, but didn't seem at all bothered.  I was so pleased a few days later when he got a little . . . . erm, you know, PG - can't say, but it showed that everything was OK in that region.

NutKitty:
A little..  erm, huh?  Hahahahahaaa!!!  That's funny!  :)

My little guy is walking around the apartment right now maowing up a storm..  yaaay...  at least he should stop doing that after tonight, right? :)

I'll be a mess at work tomorrow too..   I'm sure he'll be fine though.

Just this waiting kills me!

I worried a lot when Maggie was neutered and I have had plenty of cats fixed by then!  He is a super special boy and for some reason I was just more worried than usual.  All went well - like I'm sure it will for your Yuki.  It's normal to be concerned, but in this day and age it is super rare for anything to go wrong.

Maggie also makes a weird breathing sound sometimes, but the vet said he was ok.  I think he makes the sound on purpose when he's being pissy.  ;)
