How to keep her subdued?
« on: December 07, 2004, 09:43:05 AM »
I have a two year old foster girlie named Rachel who, last Wednesday, underwent her first heartworm treatment.  I understand that dogs must be calm and not active for about a month following the treatment...  But she's a Siberian Husky, and we haven't been taking our daily two mile walks.  She's going stir crazy.  Any idea's as to what I can do to keep her happy?

lots of toys to play with in the house.

bones - stuffed bones, raw bones, kongs, you name it. anything she likes to play with in the house would be wonderful.

do some training. low intensity - nothing with walking, etc. but teach her tricks. wave, high five, etc - use the clicker and do it in your living room - make her learn 1 new trick a week, and keep her mind active since her body cant be.

lots of cuddling.
