sprained ankle
« on: May 31, 2007, 02:18:19 PM »
Good Day
It seems my dog has sprained his rear right ankle, he holds it up and trys not to walk on it 2nd day now.
Today when i tried to bend it for him so he sould get up the on couch he yelped in pain, it does not appear to be swollen. I ran my hands up and down to check for pain/breakage reaction.  Seems only when i try to bend it up like he is climbing up on stairs or the bed.
My question is....should i wrap it with an ace bandage?? perhaps some buffered asprin for the pain?  :help:  thanks for any feedback.  cheers

I would take it to the vet for x-rays.
If it's been 2 days and he's still in severe pain/not walking on it, that would definitely raise a red flag for me.

He is putting some weight on it now he is just not bending it and it doesnt have full radius. It doesnt seems that he is in pain 24/7.  I will monitor him over the weekend if the pain worsens we will be off to the Vet's for X-rays.
Thanks for the advice :wave2:
