Houston Free Cat Day
The next SNAP Houston free cat day is coming up soon. The event takes place on Monday, June 11, 2007, at Baytown Animal Control, which is at 705 N. Robert Lanier Street in Baytown, Texas 77521. Cats will be “fixed” (spayed or neutered) for free aboard our Houston mobile clinic. Cats without a current rabies vaccination will also be vaccinated for free. People do not have to be on government assistance to take advantage of this opportunity. We ask those who are on government assistance to use the Houston mobile clinic on one of its regularly scheduled stops. This event is intended to help those who are not on government assistance but who may still find it financially difficult to afford sterilization surgery for their cats.

Clients are served on a first-come, first-served basis and are encouraged to arrive no later than 7 a.m. (Clients often begin showing up before 5 a.m.) The first client to arrive should start a list to keep track of the order in which subsequent clients arrive. The SNAP advance team will arrive by 7:30 a.m. At this time clients will line up in the order they have arrived. Bring the cat in a pillow case or a carrier.  Adult cats can have no food or water after 10 p.m. the night before surgery.  Kittens may be given half their usual amount of food and water the morning of surgery. Multiple cats will be accepted only if there are fewer than 50 people in line. All cats will go home the same day.
