Feeding uncooked noodles...
« on: September 08, 2007, 02:09:14 PM »
So after reading what does your rats food look like and feeding fresh fruits... hahha. Anyway. I made a pine cone with rice, noddles and peanut butter and hung it outside for birds when I was little. My mom told me this was a bad idea because when they ate it, the rice and dry noodles would swell inside them and make them explode. LOL. It seems like it could swell to me. Also, what nutritional value does noodles have other then a lot of starch?! Does it expand inside of them? I'm confused....  :help:

Noodles do not swell/expand.  At all.

That's an old myth.  Grains, seeds and such go into the birds crop where it is ground up before going into the stomach.  Rats chew their food like we do.  My guys get uncooked pasta and the tofu mix I prepare has uncooked barley and millet.  They also enjoy uncooked wheat berries from time to time.  Doesn't hurt them at all.
