Teething ring chains in cages?
« on: December 19, 2008, 02:02:30 PM »
I've seen alot of pictures of cages on here with teething ring chains in the. Do ratties actually use them? Or are they just for decoration?
I'm thinking of buying my girls some, but don't want to buy a ton if they aren't going to use them.

Thanks!

It depends what you mean by 'use' them  :P  My girls just chew them, just like babies do.  They dont play with them.

By use them I ment climb on them like a rope, but as my girls love to chew on anything within their reach, I'll buy a set today. If anything they'll add some more color to their cage

If you want to add more color, you can also braid fleece scraps into ropes.

That's todays project ;D But I was going to have a set of each to switch off between weeks. Also, I'm making the ropes for them to climb on, not color. I've strung a piece across their playplen and they all tried to climb across it, so I'm sure if I made it stronger and wider they'd happily use it to get around the cage(or atleast try ) Hmm... Maybe I could weave the fleece with the rings ???, it's add support... hmm will try and see what happens. Thanks for the replies!

I have some and the rats don't touch them.  They're really just decoration.  Then again, my old ladies are not the monkeys they once were.

I have some in my cage as well, but they are there mostly for decoration. My ratties pretty much ignore then.

Boo

Thats too bad they don't use them, it'd be adorable if they did. Will try weaving fleece through them to make a bridge ropey thingy to see if that interests them
