Hay for rats?
« on: January 04, 2009, 02:25:03 PM »
I got a 25 dollar gift certificate to Drs. Foster and Smith, and I was on the website looking for stuff and saw this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6067+18349+12714&pcatid=12714 Is this a good product for rats?

I don't think it would be good, especially since it is made by Kaytee.  It looks like its basically a little bit of dried fruit with lots of timothy hay and Kaytee pellets.  It would probably be better just to get dried fruit treats.

Just the fact that it's made by Kaytee puts a red flag up for me. They'd probably appreciate fresh foods more. :)

These treats are just fruit http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6067+10376+12734&pcatid=12734 and theres not lots of weird, extra ingredients added, your rats might enjoy those.

Rats do not eat hay - this is suitable for bunnies or piggies, not rats.
