Another No Eating Hay Rabbit
« on: January 21, 2009, 09:15:28 AM »
I've had oliver for a couple years now (he's about 5-6 years old) and I have never got him to eat hay. I don't know if it's from him being abused or what, but I've tried timothy & orchard grass so far w/no results. No teeth problems that I know of he did at one time have small spurs, but the vet said they weren't that bad that he needed to grind them down. Now my other bun wilbur loves hay and since I bought some oxbow last night he goes even more nuts for it. So no more kaytee. I give them oats on occasion so I'm wondering if I should try oat hay next or does someone have any tips for getting him to eat it.

I recently switched from Oxbow Hays to Sweet Meadow and WOW what a difference. My very picky Bun eats 3x more hay. It also smells so good. http://www.sweetmeadowfarm.com/

This hay is supposed to be very good. She told me all her rabbits like the orchard grass, timothy and blue bunny mix and as far as the grain hays it depends on the rabbit. she has both young oat and mature oat. they young is more green and not for rabbits under one.

it is best to order in 4's or 14s and you can mix and match.
