which fabric to use for hammocks etc?
« on: August 11, 2009, 12:38:41 AM »
I'm going to the market in a few hours to buy some new fabrics for hammocks, cubes, shelves covers...
is there a specific fabric i should buy, one which handles urine and dirt better in terms of smell?

Fleece is usually best. It's what I'm going to use for the rats and what I use for my guinea pigs.

For my cage liners in my CN I've been using towels.  They seem to last longer IMO and they are absorbent.  For hammocks, the usual is fleece, flannel and or cotton.

yep.  I use flannel on the shelves (slightly better with odor than the fleece).  Cubes are cotton outside and fleece inside, hammocks are either fleece or fleece and cotton, depending on if I make them (fleece no-sew) or my daughter does (fleece/cotton).

I use fleece for everything.  Shelves and cage accessories.  It's quite durable and it doesn't fringe.  Can't say much for order control, I usually wash the shelving covers every 3 days or so, but for comfort it gets an A plus!
