Hi! I used to live in Townsville when I was a kid. Now I'm in NSW near Newcastle.
I got the cages on ebay and I'm honestly not sure what brand they are, but the same seller still has them up on there, they're about $150 plus freight costs. But I've seen that avione makes a cage that looks identical, may very well be the same one. I've seen them at Petbarn but I'm not sure how much they were.

I love everyone's cages!  You're all so creative.  I have tons of fabric waiting to be cut and sewed, but I just don't find myself getting around to it.  I have two "other" cages so it'll be fun to show them!  One is still being worked on (it was an CL purchase that needs a little work) but it's twice the size of the cage I have now and it was only $18. 

You guys give such good ideas!

This is the cage this week:



(It's use-whatever-we-have-left week, so excuse the icky colors  )

I didn't put many hammocks because in this hot weather no one used them.. 
They won't use enclosed shelters either.

 Any good ideas on how to keep my rats cozy and entertained, but cool at the same time?

Using a hard plastic tube, which has a flat surface that holds it up top. Kind of like this:  __   __

 It doesn't seem like it would be stable, but I've never had a problem with it.

I love seeing every one's cages. That's the first thing I did when I found goose moose is go through the 80 something pages of CN pictures. It makes me feel less crazy. 

i can totally understand this statement i think i am the only on in my area that has rats anymore and none of them decorated their cages like i do . my boyfreinds mother always says that my girls are the most spoiled rats that she has ever seen . i just have to laugh though after seeing the cn/fn cages on hear , but i think they look so amazing because of the way that they are built mainly . i love my cage though no idea what brand it is though. but i am trying to post pics just haveing some trouble with photoshop . any suggestions on what format on there to use to posty the pics correctly

Mistral's cage.  Next time I'm taking pic's before I put her in so you can see the nice cloth I had on the shelfs 

Yes she likes pulling it down to nest with- no matter how much I put down there in the first place.

Mistral's cage is one I picked up from the pet shop *umms* not sure what it is.  Its one that has a slide out pan and wire base- but I've taken the wire base that sits over the pan out.  Pipe cleaners are used so she can't push the tray out.  She has a container of kitty litter (I'm glad she's toilet trained) as a litter tray.

I just wish she was able to live with the other two girls *snuggles her squishy aggressive girl*

I've got that cage!!
Mines a 24 x 16 x 24 and I love it though I would like to upgrade eventually to the CN or FN, watching Craigslist often for it

LOL  Thats cos she's my manrat in disguise.  I swear she carries weight like a big squish, has dominance issues and gets all foofy on first scent of the other rats.

I took off the ramps though because they don't use them and my shelves are put in different spots so that they are closer

I live in So Cal so it is very hot right now, so I keep my ratties cool with ceramic dishes or the potting planter things? The classic brown pots?.....and sometimes I will drape a cold wet towel on the outside of their cage and then put a fan too it, so it's like they have a little air conditioner!

Yup! I made the hammock. The fabric is from Joanne Fabrics.

Wow, I love your big cages!  So cute.  I like the pink mesh wheel..I haven't been able to find one here in the US.

I have been spending a lot of time in our family room which is down stairs and the rats are up stairs and the time spent with them was getting less and less. So, I decided to dig out the Marchiorio cage. I set it up on the couch so when I am on the computer or watching TV they can take turns hanging out with me. There has to be a cage environment because I have seven dogs and this is safe for the rats, I can have the door open and can get/give pets. So here is the "family room cage".

In this cage we have 4 rooms ...
In the first en large room we have 14 female rats.
In de second large room we have 6 males.
En in the two smaller rooms we keep 4 females en 2 females the are here for holiday.
