Most of my rats lived about 2-3 years. My first rat Sniffles lived to be nearly 6. She was an albino feeder rat that I got at Petco when I was 11. She passed from a URI. The other rats were purchased at local pet stores and they were mainly fancy rats with a few dumbos and blues.

Isley - 27 months, intact rescued male.  Passed in January due to respiratory issues, HED, pyoderma.  His immune system was clearly compromised by age.

Chyne: Intact female purchased from a breeder. Passed at 33 months with mammary tumors. She also had a fast growing tumor on her head that quickly caused her teeth to move so not aligned. About a week passed between the head tumor visual to death. Chyna never had a myco attack or respiratory problem.

Kirby: 30 month old neutered male from Mainely Rat Rescue. Had a healthy life (only a small tumor removal at 21 months) until the last month.  It seemed like hind end degeneration, but he deteriorated quickly and started to exhibit signs of PT

My last group
Ages are all approximations as I've adopted them all from rat rescues where their ages aren't known all the time

Alvin: Neutered M, 33 mos.
Cause of Death: Passed away at home (suspected natural causes)
Known Health Issues: Occasional URIs, moderate HED (he never lost all mobility, but had clearly weak back legs and tripped/dragged them sometimes, dry/itchy skin (treated with revolution and ivermectin, no improvements. Possible allergy issue)

Simon: Neutered M, 24 mos.
Cause of Death: Passed away at home (Stroke, suspected)
Known Health Issues: LOTS. Strokes, Permanent head-tilt, URIs, tumors (one removed from his lymph nodes, another inoperable due to being inside of his abdomen. He was hand fed his last 2 months of life)

Theodore: Neutered M, 27 mos.
Cause of Death: Passed away at home (Unknown, honestly. Suspected stroke? He was perfectly fine the evening before)
Known Health Issues: Largely none. Rare URIs, and had one small benign tumor removed, but was otherwise actually perfectly healthy.

Momo: Intact F,  18-24 mos.
Cause of Death: PTS (inoperable tumor that had ruined her quality of life)
Known Health Issues: Recurrent mammary tumors

I current have 2 females and will be adopting 3 1+ yr old males, but:
Pea and Pepper: Intact Fs, approx 18mos. currently. Pea has a recurring URI/eye discharge we have to treat regularly and Pepper seems to have no current health problems.

Artemis- estimated about 17 months
Originally a pet store rat before I adopted her. Death due to not recovering after surgery to have a tumor removed. Had to treat her for myco flare ups since the day I brought her home.

Rescued with her sister from a Craigslist post for an unplanned litter needing homes.
Mammary tumors; in last week she was extremely weak, hand fed, and also developed a head tilt.
