Skin Issue
« on: February 20, 2011, 01:30:39 PM »
My sister called me last night saying that her roommate's rabbit developed a dandruff-y spot behind his ears by his shoulder blades that has lost some hair. Her roommate says she thinks it's some kind of mange and they were wondering what the best way to home treat it would be, if it's possible. I haven't seen it, so that's the best description I have >.>

I am a little late, hopefully the rabbit has had some treatment by now but it sounds like fur mites.

If you want to treat it at home you can buy ivermectin injectable for cattle. I bought ours at Tractor supply. I can't remember the dosing though. You will need to weigh the rabbit and use a syringe to put the correct amount behind his ears at the back of his neck.
