Which YN for litter box?
« on: February 22, 2011, 02:11:46 PM »
There are quite a few different types of Yesterday's News litter. Which is the right one to use? My boys like to lay in the litter box  and someone said maybe they find their litter comfy. So I thought I'd try a different kind.
Right now we use a layer of ecobedding and carefresh on top.

They're all the same, just marketed differently.  ;)  I think the cat one is cheapest, but I'm not positive.

I'm not sure if you can find them down your way, but you can also use wood stove pellets.  They are super cheap, something like $4 for a 40lb bag, it will last you forever.  Just be sure to get one without accelerant.

They do, however, have scented and unscented so you'll definitely want to get the unscented one.

I have no idea where to get those. I looked online and can't find them anywhere.

Hardware stores will have them, Ace Hardware, maybe Lowes or Home Depot.  Not sure you guys would need them down there though!  lol

I use the unscented cat YN. I get mine from Petsmart because usually when I get around to needing more they are having a sale on it but I have seen it in Winn Dixie.

Stopped at Lowe's today and they have wood pellets there too, $4.18 a bag I think it was for 40lbs.

Sweet! Maybe then they won't think it's so comfy and try to lie in it. LOL

When I used YN I bought the unscented cat version.  I found it quite pricey, so it might be worth going to the pet shop to see if they have an own brand version which is cheaper.

WalMart had some too, but I'm not sure if it had anything in it.  It was a little more expensive than Lowes as well.
