Here is what I found out.
 http://www.petco.com/product/114710/Planet-PETCO-Paper-Pellet-Cat-Litter.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch
That is the new ECO recycled pellet litter we sell (there is a small animal one, but it has a mark up because its for small animals and not cats, but its EXACTLY the same thing) It is 95% post consumer recycled paper. I have not been able to figure out what the other 5% is, so I'll have to try a round about way to figure it out.

There was another one that was 100% recycled paper, but they have phased it out.

It could be all paper, just only 95% is recycled.

I will let everyone know about the cardboard horse bedding, I still haven't ordered it

Does anyone know anything about Sunseed Fresh World bedding? It's another recycled newspaper product--it's what my local petstore carries instead of yesterday's news. It appears to be all paper and says phenol-free on the bag... but with all this talk of misleading packing for other products, I'm concerned.

Ratless. :(

Missing Erebus, Quiz, Bandit, Appa and Janus. Rest well, my loves. You were all magical and beautiful, and I'll miss you always.

That is what I just purchased. It's made up of 100% paper. So no there is nothing wrong with it :)

Good, I thought it was fine, but the way people were talking in this thread I just wanted to verify.  I use it in the litter boxes.

One person saying it has an unidentified chemical hardly has me convinced.  They said the same about wood stove pellets, that they are unsafe because they are not made for rats.

rachsratties
Thank you for the info on the Yesterdays News. When I called Purina(r) about this they told me it is 94 -95 % recycled paper, magazines, etc. and possibly could contain 5-6 % wood pulp.  That is the unscented I am speaking of.  Why are we getting different answers ?? The scented, I know does contain myacide. The scented should not be used for rats or even for cats.

I'm pretty sure other people got the 5% answer in the past, probably they decided mill sweepings were cheaper and switched it up.

Wood pulp is so processed tho that I would think the phenols (what makes the rats sick) would be processed out... maybe we should be looking into how they make it, not what its made of...

I was thinking the same thing. They have acquired a cheaper filler with wood shavings.

Momofsweetie:
I don't know why we are getting different answers but that is what they sent me in the email. I asked specifics on what was in YN.
If you go on their site and at the top of the page it says our story. It says they use reclaimed sawdust. I would rather be safe than sorry that is why I switched.
