Best Thing Ever. Ruffling up my comforter and watching my rats run tunnels under it for hours. :D

Whenever my rats do that, I call them graboids from the movie tremors. It's so adorable when they do that.

Isn't it? I almost bought them a 25.00 ferret toy that was just layered fleece for tunneling, then I was all "ummm, no, free and they can just tunnel under all my sheets and blankets" :yelcutelaugh: plus its a heck of a lot bigger!

I'm doing a photo project for the month of February.

Today's photo was "Hands"

This is what I did... :D

Mika holding my hand and Suzie's green monster hand from her dinner. :)

So yesterday we said our goodbyes to Suzie Q. It was tough but at the same time such a relief to know she is out of that horrible pain.

anyway yesterday right after we took her in and came home her Green Mush I had ordered finally showed up  but I decided i'd give it a go with Isabelle, Bae, Mika and Templeton. I figured if it be doing anything it would be making them healthier.

So the first night it took mixing in honey, chicken baby food and apple sauce for them to eat it :yelcutelaugh: But once they got hte taste they loved it. So I was trying to see if they loved it or all the stuff I added in...

So tonight we went with just green mush - water and a dab of honey. They love it again so it looks like like a little honey or banana will do it :)

This is Isabelle enjoying her dinner tonight - Salad with broccoli and Green Mush dressing.

I didn't think before getting everyone out for play time on my bed what a mess Green Mush is... so lets say my bed looks.... lovely right now :wink5:

I am coming here with amazing news!!! :hyper:

Bae, Mika and Isabelle are living together now!

the story if you'd like to read it...
Isabelle after Monroe passed away was super lonely so I was introing her to Suzie, Mika and Bae. They had great out of cage play time but once it was time to try the cage she was good with the girls but wanted nothing to do with Bae and got pretty pissy about it so for the rest of December and January she lived by herself and they just had a 1-2hr play date each day on the bed. I thought it would stay this way. Well after Suzie passing away in early February Bae and Mika were pretty mopey. It was saddening so I wanted to try cage intros again but got some help this time. I contacted MRR specialist and they helped me out. Kind of pointed me in the direction of "stress is key for bonding" so. After scrubbing the cage to bits and new hammocks/toys I put everyone into the same cage after play time. I then while they were in it, moved the cage across the room and while in the process of doing this we vacuumed the whole room, which they hate the noise. So possibly a mixture of this and then play dates every day for almost 2 months - they didn't even put up a scuffle!! They are living happily ever after together!!

Here are some photos to share!

Bae and Isabelle cuddling together last night.

This was right after I put them in together and finished vacuuming. I sent this picture to MRR asking for good luck wishes! haha. It is kinda bare because I wanted new toys none of them have played with before and that was challenging. But I did put a bucket of shells and rocks in there for them to dig through and then some oat grass I grew.

Their first "WE JUST MOVED IN TOGETHER" pose ;) - you can see Bae is avoiding them, he is wondering what in the world I did to him considering he has to hypers on his hands now! He had his girl Mika who was hyper and then laid backed chilled Suzie, welllll Isabelle is worse then Mika boy!! haha

Also just because they seemed to really love this I thought I would share. It is the bucket full of rocks and shells. They are loving it and dig through it nightly - kind of noisy, lol.

Congratulations! It's great when everyone lives together peaceably.
I'm also a big proponent of "bonding through adversity"  :yelcutelaugh:

Templeton pictures :poke: ;D

We cleaned his cage tonight and it's a stressful process for him so he needed a well needed nap afterwards.

Templeton hanging out in his bad butt rat diggs. :wink5:

Also!! :hyper: It looks like we found 2 girls at our local rescue, 5 week old nakie girls. So if everything goes well with adopting them they will be Templeton's ladies ;)

I just read through this entire thread for the first time.  I love it!  The updates on your rats have been great.  I cried when I saw the stuff about Monroe.

I am also super excited for Templeton's potential girlfriends.

Hadyn & Juniper bums ;D

I'll try to get some decent pictures of them actually today. They are tiny. About the size of a roll of film. 4-5 weeks old.

Little freaking hellions already, lol.

  They. Are. Precious.
I appologise in advance if they disappear overnight. I may not be able to control myself from rat napping them.
Anyway, give them a cuddle for me and tell them I said hi!  :wave2:

About the size of a roll of film.

How recently have you seen one of those? They are practically an endangered species!  :yelcutelaugh:

But seriously, precious little bubs!

:yelcutelaugh: I think museums would be after me, I own a lot for my film camera. I don't use it though, maybe once every couple of years, lol.

I went to go see them and took some chicken baby food and warmed it up a bit and smeared it on my fingers. They went crazyyy and were having a tug of war with my finger, thank goodness they don't have very sharp teeth yet or my finger would have been nice and stitched up most likely, lol.

Super cute, Templeton's ladies. I hope after their couple week QT that they grow up a bit... because intros with little jelly beans and then Mr. Godzilla will be scary :yelcutelaugh:

Whelp, all I had tonight was the camera phone and they only hold still while eating... so this is as good as intros to the new babies as you get :yelcutelaugh:

Left to right
Juniper = loved the name and she is a lovely, bit of a shy girl and then Hadyn = meaning "Little Fire" because she is a spit fire!!! put it simple, lol.

Thanks! they sure are little go getters - and little Hadyn - who the lady informed me was almost gone and was pretty tiny has bulked up now like her sister.

My vet is doing free check ups for newly adopted pets right now so I scheduled them for theirs and it is on Tuesday - they'll get a little well visit look over. :)

Here is a new picture.

Cleaning the cage and they decided to be Escapees.

Izzy going "mammm that flash tingy hurtz!"

and Mr Templeton - Hopefully soon will be living with Hadyn and Juniper :)

So my true girls come out now!

They are about late 5 weeks now early 6 weeks.

Of course, double rexes and their next batch of fur is starting to come through.

Hadyn - She is a white rattie with an agouti cap (bad cap of course: plz correct me if i'm wrong)

& left to right, Hadyn and Juniper. Juniper is a white rattie with a black cap & shoulders :) She is all cuddled up now since her first vet visit ended in an abscess being drained, poor babe.

Your new girls are so precious Robin!

I would say Hadyn is a mismarked split cap (since I see a little coloring stemming of the cap down the shoulder) and Juniper looks like a mismarked cap. Either way they are both very cute little girls

Thanks ladies! I never really use what they are for anything else except just going "oh okay! Cute!" for one time :yelcutelaugh:

When their hair started coming back in I figured Hadyn was also black but when I went to get them for their vet appointment today I saw little tuffs of hair peaking through finally and I was all "Miss Hadyn! You're an agouti!" haha because my mom described it as "she looks like she got into something! like car oil or what not!" :yelcutelaugh:

Sooo is it just mine or do babies have fuzzy ears?

None of my crew has fuzzy ears. they are just pink skin... but the babies ears, specially Hadyn, they have like a layer of fur on them, lol.

Younger rats to have fuzz on their ears and their tails too! My Scampi used to have a kinda fuzzy tail with black fur and just the tip was bald and it was so adorable, now he's still just as cute but has a bald tail lol The ears was a very thin layer of hair on my two youngins now it is just pink skin.
