I've been following this thread hoping for good news... I'm a little crushed myself hearing the results.... She's just such an adorable little character, and obviously a fighter, so hopefully she'll surprise you in the end. I know this must be difficult to go through, but of all the places she could have ended up, I don't think she could have found a better home and I thank you for all that you do. It's people like you that make me hopeful, like this world isn't so bad since there are genuinely good people still out there, wanting to help. I'm not much for religion, but you're like a ratty godsend~

I'm so sorry that the results weren't better for Junebug :(  But I am SO happy she found your home to be in for the rest of her life, no matter how short it may be.     She, and May, are just adorable!

That face is seriously ridiculous.
and is it weird, that I find her inspiring?

June is with you now and safe. I have full confidence in you that you will keep her safe, loved, and cared for. There is no better person to care for Junebug, no better person who knows when to let go and when to try harder.

Junebug has already had a new start in life. You are our angel, Shelagh.

loveforrats, *I* find her inspiring, so not odd at all...

We had a lovely weekend away, my brother and mom fell in love (you don't get a choice with this happy, determined baby!) but today things are not good.   I held her on my lap all the way home in the car. She seems very uncomfortable today and I am pretty sure its because that tiny pea sized tumour I found in the other side of her abdomen last week is now the size of a large marble sized or even bigger  :puppy_dog_eyes:

I have a picture I took after she was gone, and you can see that there is dark on the lower belly so I think one of the tumours ruptured. It would make sense at how fast it was. I can post it under a spoiler unless someone finds it too upsetting?

I have her in the fridge now lovingly wrapped up with her Oxbow, pennies and change, and in a lovely burial sack from Petunia. I will drop her off at the vet clinic tomorrow for a gross necropsy, and maybe we or least my vet can learn something that might help other rats down the line.

I'm so sorry. I was really hoping you'd have more time with her, but I'm glad she got to spend her last days so loved and cared for.

I'm so sorry for your loss but I'm so happy she had you for her short time on earth.

I'll be waiting to hear the necropsy results, I've never seen such a young rat with tumours.

I'm so sorry. Poor little Junebug is free of her failing body and was able to spend so much time with you being well loved and spoiled. I am anxious to hear if the vet finds out anything else on the necropsy.
