Well it's your lucky day Rzrwyre

I tried to sex them this morning. On first count it looks like we have 3 boys and 8 girls, but I'm aware that they're only 3 days old so this will probably change.
Also, we have ears this morning!

Their fur is really starting to come through now, I think you can see a few hairs sticking up on that last pic. They're so soft!

Just curious: am I anywhere near right in guessing that they are dumbos? Is it even possible to tell yet?

I am amazed that one poster could tell from the day 2 photos that they have pink eyes!

You can tell whether or not the have pink eyes, or will be rex from day one - easily! If they have dark eyes you can see them through their eye lids, pink eyes just look like normal coloured skin. And since they are born with whiskers, you can see which are curly and which are straight right away.

She's a gorgeous girl.
It's awful how she was treated.
Both my rats are from pet stores, but they weren't mistreated.
One has myco flare-ups, but I knew that when I got him.
I just couldn't leave him there.
He was older than the other rats and no one wanted him because of the myco.
I love him and he's the sweetest rat.
I wouldn't trade him for anything.

Has she had the babies yet?
I have some name suggestions (:
Kyra- means "strong woman"
Adette- means sweet and strong
Nadia- means hope
Lily- she looks like a lily to me.

I was so embarrased that I got one home and didn't notice he was a rex! (I picked him out because HE was the one was was clearly like "daddy, take me home!") Very subtle though...whiskers didn't get wild crazy until he was older.

Pics will be coming today for their one week birthdays

BigBen- all the babies are going to look like mum. I was pretty sure they would be top ear because mum and their father(s) are, but as they've unfolded you can see that they're growing up rather than across.
Black eyed babies have really really dark bits where their eyes are- I guess in real life it's easier to see all these things rather than in a poorly lit shot!

Despite there only being three boys I always seem to pick them up firs, something tells me they're going to be little bruisers

I hadn't really posted much because I thought they hadn't changed much, but looking back at the last photos I posted....
They're so so soft now and I can't really carry them all in one hand like I could in that picture.

I know!!

We have a horrible yellow light in the living room so I really have to use the flash unless it's 8am which is the only time we get sunlight in. Them having pale fur just reflects the light off so they just become so shiny!
I did edit them all and decrease the highlights actually so imagine what they looked like originally!!

I never had bubs in my house. But the "thud" factor is still just amazing!

You know I thought that myself actually. Having looked at a couple of them their ears now seem to be growing sideways. That would have to be some very deep-seated genes, I've only ever seen top ear in there. We'll see, they're still cute either way
