Anyone looking to adopt in NY (LI)?
« on: August 18, 2012, 11:35:56 AM »
I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, so feel free to move it.
For those of you who don't know, I'm helping out another person from my town who rescued three rats and is looking for homes for them. The one female already had one litter, and is pregnant again. I may be fostering her and her second litter while the owner focuses on adopting out the first litter, but the rest of my family is not looking to own any more rats than we already have. The worry is that fostering may turn into adopting. So, I wanted to see how many people in my area would be interested in adopting a pair, so I know that I won't have any more rats before I agree to fostering them. Mom is PEW, and dad is either a black berk or a dumbo agouti hooded. The first litter consisted of mostly black berks and selfs and agouti berks and selfs. I'm not sure how many were dumbo. The first litter was healthy. There will be a small adoption fee. Adoption in pairs is prefered, but will make an exception for just one. Once again, no garauntee how many males and females there will be or what colors there will be, just wanted an idea of how many adopters I will have lined up.
Thanks!
Harper

Oh the babies have not been born yet. The mother is pregnant, and I wanted to see that I'd have homes lined up before I agreed to take on the babies.

*nevermind the "first place".
Did she accidently get put in with a male at any point?
I might be intrested in a pair, but I'd need to know the little one's health, temperment, gender, etc.  :)
Any updates on the momma/pics?

All the best!

There were 3 rats (two males and a female) rescued by someone with little experience with rats. The two males were kept with the female and that is how the first litter happened, and even after the babies were born the rats were kept together and the female became pregnant again even with a current litter.  ::)

Wow. Well yeah, I guess females CAN and will get pregnant again after giving birth. It would have been good if they at least split them up first.. Now it's a game of "Guess Who Daddy Is!" ::)  It's easier for me to pm you, since email updates are faster..will pm details to you :)

Hi there! I'm a Brooklynite interested in adopting two female rats. I'd love to know more about the babies when they're born- what they look like, what their personalities are, how they're being fed and housed. Also pictures!

Thanks so much!

Sincerely,
Genevieve
