First honeycomb hammock attempt.
« on: August 31, 2012, 07:41:43 PM »
Well after hanging out at Joann's and getting some fabric during their Labor day weekend deals and over an hour of cutting and sewing, I have made my first honeycomb hammock! And with no how-to lying around, I definitely learned a few things. Mainly, need to make the middle area with bigger openings. But the opossums don't seem to mind. I'll just keep this one in the cages that have smaller babies as opposed to babies almost ready to go to an outdoor enclosure. I'm excited to make some more when time permits.  :hyper:

P.S. There are actually six opossums in there right now.

Thank you!

I got ambitious and ended up making a rectangle with two entrances as well last night. Come this morning, it definitely proves to be more popular. And for those make make these multiple entrance cubes/rectangle with no seems showing, kudos to you! This was a difficult one because I added the extra entrance on the top back portion. But the opossums love the multiple entrances. And it's big enough to accommodate the six in there. I also added "support straps" on the side so it helps with the weight in the middle. Although next time I'm gonna make it a bit wider with something better for support so they aren't packed in there too much like sardines.  :yelcutelaugh:

And my favorite one...  :love5:

I need to get out the good camera to get some better pictures.. although my phone is always just right there with me.

Thank you. It's all a learning experience. Figured why not, the opossums don't care if I sew it all wonky. Haha.  :laughing7:

They look like ferrets when they are asleep. how stinking cute!!
are they mean? Like i have always heard that they are mean and like to bite, but yours look so peaceful and sweet. is it just the wild ones that are vicious? 8)

We have wild opossums around here and they really aren't mean. They hiss and then continue on their way.

Okay, your first attempt at a honey comb was GREAT! Especially with no how-to tutorial.

Also, baby opossums are possibly one of the most awesome things ever and now I want one
