I need some help. I have this cat, her name is Cupcake and she is roughly 12 years old now. We adopted her a few years ago from a situation where they were going to put her to sleep because some of the humans in the house were sick. She did alright in our other apartment which was a bigger and there was more space for the cats, and the dog to live somewhat peacefully.
When we moved, she made the bathroom her home. It was annoying but we as the humans could deal with it. She had her space from the other cats, and the dog left her alone 90% of the time. She would get attention whenever we went into the bathroom and would venture out into our bedroom and the living room on occasion.
Fast forward a year later, and now she refused to come out of the bathroom at all. She is losing fur at a rapid rate and seems to be completely miserable. My other cats torture her (the dog still leaves her alone). She has a few food intolerance and what appears to be a flea allergy. (which we discovered recently).
Our vet can't find anything wrong with her health wise. (other than the flea allergy) and thinks that the hair loss can be attributed to a recent bout of fleas in our house (thank you diver and the skunk) and stress. His suggestion: Think about re-homing her to a one cat only home or a home with more room where she can co-exist with other peaceful cats.
She's a great cat, really sweet and cute. She is actually our best behaved cat-she doesn't seem to scratch anything, uses the litter box religiously, eats well. She has to have a grain free food and its best to avoid the fleas. She is currently eating taste of the wild and is doing well on it. She's up to date on shots for another few months but will need boosters soon.
So does anyone know of anyone that would be willing to consider a slightly special needs kitty?
